she is half japanese but i think she had help researching about japan and the language for this video. hannah (boyinaband's sister) dubbed the japanese woman voice in the video, hannah is also very into japanese culture and speaks japanese. so i am guessing hannah helped jaiden with the japanese references for the video.

No idea why this popped up in my recommendations but it was lovely!! It was very fun to watch someone who is very familiar with Japan to react to someone’s first time there. i went to japan a few years ago myself, and yep. i got lost on day 1 finding my hotel. ROFL day 2 was a free day in tokyo, so just messed about at arcades, pokemon center etc, before i met up with an organised tour group i would be with for the next 2 weeks, which would leave tokyo and go from 1 town/city to another town/city. i did a lot of what jaiden did in this video, except visit that shrine, and the ghibli museum. but on my last day i went along the Wakayama railway (Cat Railway!) to see Tama the station masters cat. i made sure to stop at every shrine along the railway and collect a stamp from each one for a small stamp paper book thing i was given, so i had proof i had been to each shrine! some shrines were like a 20-30 minute trek from the actual stations!

😂 But seriously, I get very happy to hear people are interested in Japanese culture. I grew up not liking my Asian culture because Americans always saw me as Japanese before they saw me as a citizen. “Ohhh nIhAo” And I’ll just sit there like: “are they being serious?” But now that I’m older I can appreciate the traditions and lifestyle, and I appreciate people who take time to understand Japanese. I appreciate otakus too 👍

Honestly, it’s really cool to see people with different backgrounds react to things. The cultures of countries are vastly different and it’s fun to see people compare it to something that they know of in their culture!

I went on a two week tour of Japan back in 2017, we hit Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka and lots of points in between, I found that plenty of people spoke English and were very friendly and helpful, and just learning a few phrases like excuse me, please and thank you in Japanese helped out a lot, also the Google voice translation came in very handy.
