L'arc en ciel is one of the biggest band if not the biggest in Japan. Their lives are so freaking good they still sell out domes to perform songs they made in the 90s, their stuff never get old. I know y'all just stepped into the jrock reactions but I would recommend more l'arc en ciel for future reactions, X Japan, Mejibray, Malice Mizer and Dir en grey.

Scandal just had their 15th anniversary this past August and just released a new album. They've been together since they were in highschool and are legends.

L'arc en Ciel are really legendary and iconic,, Ready Steady Go was the opening for the original Fullmetal Alchemist anime back then. They've got a lot more iconic songs like Honey, and they've been around since 1991! Hyde, the vocalist, just turned 53 few days ago. in Japan, they're STILL huge to this day. Back in 1997 they made the record for selling out Tokyo Dome in 4 minutes. Then they sold out Tokyo Dome again in 1 minute in 2006.

Saiki, lead vocalist of Bandmaid has the perfect voice for the music that they play. They have a huge discography and are always FUN. If you want some double kick watch Rinne, More Saiki vocal joy in Wonderland. for a treat watch acoustic Catharsis(up for a limited time). For pure fun watch Freedom live; they love to play it and they mess around with each other a lot trying to throw each other off. Love that they got you singing along; they LOVE audience interaction.

The vocalist for L'arc, Hyde, is now 53 and still rocking just as hard and is very wild on stage 😂 he's on another band called Vamps, the whole vampire theme. And man is a vampire.

The main singer of L'Arc-en-Ciel is HYDE he's a solo artist now and the BIGGEST music artist in japan at the moment, everyone in japan would know who he is (he's everywhere) I hope you can do a reaction to HYDE on his own some songs to recommend of his: mad qualia, final piece and secret letters(my fav). L’Arc are legends in J-rock. Hyde (the vocalist) easily has one of the most recognizable voices in the industry. Fans world-wide because a lot of their songs were also used in anime, movies, etc. Try listening to Driver’s High, Lost Heaven, Blurry Eyes, The Fourth Avenue Cafe. 😊

SCANDAL is one of the OG all women band. They’ve been in the industry for 15 years with 10 album (2022 they release new album called Mirror). They started at dance school to become Idol… but one day the teacher asked them to try using instruments. So they learned and learned and learned… and the rest is history. Great selection of videos. All of them top notch! The word "Wagakki" means "traditional (Japanese) instruments" and the "harp" you are asking about is called a "koto." It looks very similar to the Korean "gayageum." Wagakki band is a very unique fusion of traditional sounds with modern rock instruments. And then, for this show, they added an orchestra. The collaboration apparently happened because Amy Lee saw a live video of Wagakki Band and was very impressed, so she invited them to attend an Evanescence concert in the US, which would have been the Synthesis tour with an orchestra. They were mutually impressed and decided to perform together... and then the pandemic hit right after this show was recorded. Band-Maid are a very versatile band who play a lot of styles, from pop-punk to hard rock to metal. They just released an acoustic live video for the song "Catharsis" which shows a completely different side to the band, and really brings Saiki's vocals to the forefront. Definitely check it out! They really have so much fun on stage that it's contagious. The part where they all circle around Akane (the drummer) is something they do often in live shows -- they make funny faces at her to try and get her to slip up (which almost never works). Scandal formed all the way back in 2006, when the members were in high school, and they have remained the same line-up since then, so you were right to pick up on their comfort playing together on stage. Back when they formed, all-girl groups were not that common, but now there are a great many of them in Japan. The guitarist (Haruna) is a close friend of Akane (drummer from Band-Maid).

More One Ok Rock pls. Pls check their heaviest stuff where you hear Taka screams. Linkin Park is one of the influences of One Ok Rock. They would have been in a tour together but was cancelled due to Chester's passing. :( Songs like "ONE BY ONE" and "Take me to the Top" and "Deeper Deeper"

Band Maid are for sure a band that you guys should dive in to. So much diversity in their music and the girls are so talented. They're a band that most would probably say are at their strongest live so I'd suggest watching "Freedom" or "Wonderland" from the same show as Domination.

Holy crap! I didn’t think he was gonna fall in love with SCANDAL. They just realized their new album 2 days ago. They formed in 2006 I believe. Also he should check out Tomoya’s KZfaq channel, he showcase his drumming. Scandal’s drummer Rina also has a KZfaq channel.

"Taking Off" is not One Ok Rock's heaviest stuff. Hope you could react to "One by One" and "35xxxv Take me to the Top" in 2015 tour.

Now this brings joy to my heart. I still love to listen to J-rock to this very day. SCANDAL is still one of my favorite bands. They have been together as a band since 2006 (so that would be 16 years that they have been a band) and I hope that I'll get to listen to them live one day.

I went to ONE OK ROCK concert once in 2018 in Japan. Their ticket is rare to get here, so I was lucky. Needless to say, it was soooo amazing! Taka said Likin Park has had a great impact on his band, and he is high regard for Chester. "One Way Ticket" in the album of "Ambitions" （release in the begging of 2017 ）has been poduced by Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park. They was supposed to participate in Linkin Park tour in Japan in 2017, but Chester passed away before the tour.

Scandal have been together for 15 years. They met as high schoolers at a vocal and dance school in 2006. The concert you saw was from 2015-2016, so they had already been together for 10 years. They started as punk pop but have been expanding their sound ever since. If you do another round of Japanese rock, I suggest also reacting to Akai Koen (赤い公園), who have more of a jazz rock style, and Hitorie. If you are interested in Japanese rap, I suggest starting withAkkogorilla.

One Ok Rock is so amazing live. Their Netflix documentary on their completely online concert they held last year shows just how much they love performing and their love for their fans. Their in studio acoustic version of Heartache is my favorite song

Omg, L'Arc~en~Ciel is my favourite band ever. They started in 1991. The members are: Hyde (vocal), Ken (guitar), Tetsuya (bass & leader) and Yukihiro (drums); Sakura (drums, former member until 1997). They have a huge amount of songs and genres on they career. If you want to feel Hyde voice on this band, I recommend you to see "My Dear" of the live "Awake tour" (2005). An iconic song of them is "Blurry Eyes" (1994) that was used as an opening for the anime D.N.A2. But they have a really long discography that is such a pleasure to listen and see. They have fans all around the world, and for such a long time too. You will not be disappointed if you start to listen to this band. They all have an unique style that, once you know them, you can easily recognize what songs they composed for the band. X Japan, BUCK-TICK and Luna Sea (togheter with L'Arc~en~Ciel) are like THE Legends of Japan. Others great freaking bands are: Dir en Grey, Malice Mizer, the GazettE, Versailles, Gackt, MUCC, Miyavi and so on, so on. Really, they are a lot. Thank you for reacting to Laruku!

The instrument at 1:31:31 is called a "Koto" it's similar to other instruments in S.Korea and China, the Wagakki band plays several traditional Japanese instruments like the "Shakuhachi: Flute" and the "Shamisen: The square string" and the "Taiko: drums" all obviously mixed with modern instruments. They have great songs and did wonderful covers, the female vocalist has a strong voice and what's fresh about them is they always dress in traditional Japanese clothes with tweaks for performing and artistry.

BAND-MAID is just the best rock band in the world today. Not "japanese", not "female", just BEST ROCK BAND.

I do listen to kpop but Metal and rock have my heart 🖤 Japan kills it!

Glad to see Band-Maid was the last one on the list, so that they may resonate more in your minds. "Domination" means dominating the globe with their music. Here's the shtick that I always say ... I listen to the 3 B's (beginning letter of their band name). They are BTS, Blackpink & Band-Maid. They are all A's, as in Asian, as well as meaning a top letter grade "A". They are all also C's, as in "Class acts". J-Rock (which includes metal) has been around for a while, but they seem to be coming up more & more internationally. I hope you listen to more Band-Maid. They are skilled talented girls & have around 110 songs under their belt so far. Saiki is the lead vocalist. There are a few youtube channels out there that react to these 3 bands & maybe you can hopefully become a part of that group. Band-Maid has plenty of fans in the US & they have planned a US tour this year, so hopefully all goes well, amidst the pandemic we are still in. Health & safety first !

Great to watch your enthusiastic response to these bands along with your musical knowledge. Older white guy who as a teenager grew up with the rock gods such as the Who, Cream, Jimi Hendrix (first concert), Led Zeppelin etc. Band-Maid is my favorite. I first watched their older MV "Thrill" and was impressed but wondered if this was only some type of gimmick. Next I watched "Domination" live and within a half minute I knew they were the real deal. Time for the old rock gods to move aside and let these rock goddesses have a seat at the throne. Japan has some amazing talent.

Thank you! Band-Maid are very unique. Although great, there are way better technical musicians in the world. Where they shine is their synergy and togetherness. As the years pass they have continued to push themselves and each other to get better and better as a band. Kanami (lead guitar) is the genius main songwriter but their final products are always a combination of every members’ input. Kanami - overall and guitar lines; Akane - Drums; MISA - Bass; Miku (rhythm and back vocals) and SAIKI (vocals) - Vocal melody and final song direction. So their songs are ALWAYS better and more unexpected than what the genius songwriter could come up with by herself. Lyrics (nowadays almost always by Miku) always come after the initial music demo… so it’s shaped by Miku’s image of the music and Kanami gets to compose whatever she wants without worrying about fitting into lyrics. Their individual inputs always serve the song and band sound, rather than what is best for each of their individual parts. There’s too much to say, but since both of you are musicians, I’m sure you’ll discover all the intricacies by yourselves if you ever start exploring their 110+ songs in their 8+ years together so far.

SCANDAL is amazing. I saw them in London in 2015!! They have so many amazing songs. I recommend their album 'HELLO WORLD'. Also you should have reacted to the GazettE. They are my alltime favourite Japanese rock/metal band.

I have to say I've really been spazzing since you guys have been doing your deep dive in the Japanese side of music. L'arc en Ciel aside from being a huge band, they happen to be singing one of the must famous anime OP OST's ever. This song comes from a show called Full Metal Alchemist. The album this song comes from is just phenomenal. Before I started listening to K-Music, I was big into J-Pop and J-Rock, particularly Visual Kei! Visual Kei started back in the 80s in japan it's very elaborate on looks, themes, costumes, the videos were highly stylized and L'arc en Ciel was apart of that genre. 1:25:09 - these are called hyoshigi and they're made of bamboo or hardwood! the string instrument I believe is the koto The lead singer Hyde is solo, he has a KZfaq channel that he'll broadcast his shows and all his work. I've seen you hop into the anime openings and you've gotten to LiSA, Band Aid, and even Baby Metal. Since you guys tend to love unique vocals? I'd like to suggest Gackt , X-Japan, Buck Tick, Malice Mizer, The Gazette, Dir en Grey, T.M. Revolution and Mucc to name a few of my faves!

The Babymetal girls weren't THAT young when that particular song came out, it's just the styling that makes them look young. Su-Metal was 21 already ^^ Babymetal are super enjoyable live, because they have the typical energy of Japanese idols when they perform, and Su's just a tremendous singer. She always was good, but she's improved a lot over time and can manage a lot of different styles now - Shanti Shanti Shanti is a real showcase of her vocal agility for example. Scandal have always performed in rather casual clothes. They got scouted while busking in their school uniforms, and their label actually kept them in school uniforms for a few years after debut.
