Although uniforms are seen by some as uniformity, they have important advantages. Parents are freed from worrying about what to dress their children in every day. It eliminates discrimination among friends because of the way they dress. If they get dirty or torn and can no longer be worn, they can easily be replaced. It is easy to get the same clothes. If a child, especially a toddler, gets lost, it is easy to find out which educational institution he or she belongs to.

Growing up in the UK and living in Australia, as a school teacher, wearing a uniform and seeing kids in uniform is normal for me. It is a great leveller. You don't think about as a kid because everyone does it, until you get into the last couple of years when you are a bit over it.

Hey Guys :) When my kiddo still went to public school she had uniforms in elementary school and I have to say it made things much easier instead of trying to figure out what the outfit for the day would be. She liked her uniforms to simple for the ease of the morning!. he he he I already got a sneak peak on the move thanks to Ruth. I hope you guys are adjusting well to your new place and take it slow with unpacking don't stress too much!

What I remember about my uniform is that it was big when I was a first year student, but it became smaller when I graduated as a third year student, and I felt that I had grown. It was a time when people weren't as wealthy as we are now, so everyone continued to wear uniforms for three years. Some of the children were wearing uniforms worn by their brothers.

My daughter was a yandere for Halloween, back when she was 10. I found her a Japanese high school uniform on Amazon. She looked like a real student in it! (Except for the toy knife and fake blood! 😂). And she was babbling random Japanese words while she was walking around! 😂😂 Best Halloween ever!

Love the uniforms. The socks change overtime. For a while they were wearing big baggy, bulky socks. Then they started wearing Playboy socks because those were cool. It’s so funny to watch the kids rebel in their own special way. I worked at an engineering design firm. We had to wear company shirts with the company name on them. The men were powder green with light yellow trim. The company name was embroidered over the heart. Mine was a 7X, the biggest size they had, ha ha! The women wore pink. I asked why they had to wear a different colors in my coworker told me that it was because it was the only way to tell, who was which!

The kindergarten uniforms are so lovely.😊 I bet Sarah is the master chef of the class! Next month, each of the kids will be moving on. Becca and Anna will be in their last year of middle school, an important year for them, including their career paths. Most of the high schools have designated uniforms, but there are a few that have plain clothes. I hope they will be able to find what they want to do, whether it is to go to high school together or separately. The last news surprised me, are the kids going to be transferred? I am curious, but will wait for next week's update!

in my country is a lot similar to Japan for kindergarten, but the girls can't wear the skirt; don't wear a jacket, but a apron: blue for boys\pink for girls. the kids at elementary school wear a apron: white for 1\2 years and the last 3 years black or blue. 6:03 this is so fun 🤣

Nice! I haven't watched for a long time, the kids have grown so much since I last watched! In a way it's good with schooluniforms, but then again it is so much more easier to recognize the children when they are dressed in their own unique way. I work in kindergarden and I would NOT want the kids to dress in similar cloathes, we can see from across the yard wich child is where, as we know everyones outfits even from a long distance. But it was a very nice representing of the uniforms, especially the little smiling girls! Have a nice weekend, love from a rainy Helsinki!

Your twins remind me so much of me and my twin sister when we were that young. It’s so nostalgic to see them joke around (especially about who is taller). I ended up being 6 inches taller by the time we stopped growing. 😅 She always says I stole my height from her. Even now in my 30s we are very close. I hope your daughters remain friendly over the years. I’ve been enjoying watching these videos while taking my time learning Japanese.

I thought Japanese school uniforms are pretty much the same with the sailor outfit for girls and the suit uniform for boys with a school emblem and school colors on the collar. It hasn’t changed much since the 1960s other than allowing a few personal pieces to be displayed. The 1980s brought the slightly looser uniforms that is like the delinquent look.

I can't imagine not having a school uniform (I'm from the UK) - it just made getting ready for school so much easier and meant that everyone had the same. I do think that options within the uniform are good though, including trousers for everyone and different weather options. Uniforms in the UK are slowly becoming more gender neutral, so kids can just pick from all the options according to their preferences. We also have summer uniforms, winter uniforms and PE uniforms. How different the summer and winter uniforms are depends on the school, but often it's just adding in options rather than replacing them, e.g. polo shirt, shorts and summer dress.

Same in Oz. High schoolers here wear shorts in summer as uniform. I thought was funny when I first came from the UK, but in 40o+ weather it makes perfect sense.

My own kids have uniforms here in Minnesota. They are mostly not public schooled, however. They are in parochial school. Only one doesn't have a uniform. She still wears a skirt every day to school. I like uniforms because they are convenient and because they level the playing field. There is less competition for wearing the latest fashion. Unfortunately, even with that the lululemon leggings trend has trickled down into the middle school. So one of my daughters has been begging for those way over priced leggings. They are $100 each. That would break the bank, so we will never do it.

That's so different from where I grew up in Germany. besides maybe 2-3 schools around the country nobody uses an uniform and if than it might just be same shirts with the name of their school on. In offices or other jobs it depends on what you work like. The only dresscode most store workers for example need to follow is that they look representable enough and easy to distinguish as a staff so they sometimes just wear a keychain around their neck with the shop's logo on it or the same vest or shirt, but sometimes store staff dosn't wears anything at all (like if its just a tiny shop) and in offices sometimes people don't even wear suits anymore, the only thing is you need to wear clothes that are not too wild for what you work as, so you can do a random t-shirt with a random jacket and jeans with sneaker, but you will still get weird comments or looks if it's ripped jeans or a band-shirt for example, but even these are ok in some types of job, especially if you run a small buisness and can make your own rules. But still, most types of job will call you out if you come to work in sweatpants, crocks or sandals etc.

Japanese student uniform is come from UK, not from America. Also Japan had a old Samurai school, local Samurai Lords built their military school. At the westernizing era, Japanese government built national schools based on each Samurai school and modeling UK private school, not public school, was appropriate for militarism at that period.
