How to work Japanese short rows in hand knitting.
You will need removeable stitch markers, or bobby pins, or scrap yarn will work as well.
These are my favorite method when I *really* care about how my fabric looks in stockinette. They look so smooth and even!

I’ve watched half a dozen Japanese short row tutorials and this was the most clear and concise and mitigated all the issues I was encountering with the other tutorials. Thank you 🙌🏼

Never seen this use of bobby pins. I know you have them available. 😋 I think it is quite clever. Less fiddly. I will use this as Japanese is my favorite short row. Thanks

I like using them because they have a bit of weight and size to them, so they stay where they need to stay without migrating, and keep that loop of yarn from disappearing!

Wonderful! I prefer Japanese, but all the tutorials I watched were different. Yours makes perfect sense. Thank you!

Thank you for the tutorial. I swatched all short row techniques and found I prefer Japanese short rows for stockinette. I want as invisible short row as possible, no holes. I read about the bobby-pins but use light bulb markers. Might try the pins after seeing you use them. Nicely done.

What a great tutorial. Do you do anything differently if knitting garter stitch or is it exactly the same?.

It's almost exactly the same for garter! You'll just work a k2tog on those WS rows, since you'll be knitting on the WS rows. That's the only modification!
