My name is Kanjuro Fujima and I'm a dancer of classical Japanese dance.
In this channel, I upload the videos of my performance.
I'm the head of the soke-fujima school, developed with kabuki for over 300 years.
In my school, we have performed many kinds of Japanese classical dance program and put values on suodori style which is a dance style of wearing crested hakama not decrated costumes.
Since the suodori style dancers don't wear gorgeous costumes or hairpeices, it is even more difficult for the dancers to convey what they're trying to express with the dance. Moreover, they need to dance evey move of the dance beautifully because the figure of body becomes more outstanding with suodori style than decrated costumes.
Compared to kabuki, classical Japanese dance is not popular, however, classical Japanese dance is one of the amazing cultures in Japan.
I believe that with our little help for the understanding of the classical Japanese dance, the audience can spread the wings of thier imagination and enjoy the dances.
The English subtitles for the videos do not explain the situation of every single scene of the programs, yet it wil help you to understand it. So please check it out if you need help.
