I listened to alot of Krautrock, Jimi Hendrix ,Frank Zappa and David Bowie and find the Japanese underground music very exciting and origional .

Some really great footage here, Matthias. I've been to the Basement bar and Shelter, but have never visited any of the other venues. I don't know any of these bands either. Many thanks for the upload.

Thanks, Malcolm. "Soup" in Ochiai was my favorite venue (starting from 6:00), even though it's hidden in some basement and rather hard to find. It had the craziest music, but also the most friendly atmosphere. ochiaisoup.com Another great venue is "Heaven's Door" in Sangenjaya. Musicians told me that it is one of the few clubs in Tokyo which gives them good conditions and is willing to take risks: www.geocities.jp/xxxheavensdoorxxx/ Both are rather inexpensive.

Is it just me, or does the 2018 underground music video have objectively more entertaining music than the 2019 one?

It's shot in several venues: Basementbar, Soup, Heaven’s Door, Shelter, 風知空知, Stoves, Lush. The venue is displayed at the beginning of each section. Heaven's Door in Sangenjaya (from 9:45 in the above video) is a great place to start, if you are new to Tokyo's Underground scene: heavens-door-music.com/
