Japanese vending machines are the best. And there are way more where these came from. Cup ramen, onigiri, bananas, even used underwear? You can buy whatever you like from vending machines here😅

I was in Japan recently and it was everything I thought it would be. Aside from the poetic beauty, the cleanliness, the yummy food, the lights, the traditions...what really struck me was how everyone was just so nice to each other not just to foreigners. They're kind of aloof at first because of the language barrier but if you make an effort, they will go out of their way, in broken English and creative gestures, just to help you out. Japanese people are an exemplary race. Japan is a utopian example of what nations should or aspire to be. That being said, I am not surprised that they immediately came to the aid of Filipinos even though they themselves are still recovering from the disaster. They are just a selfless bunch. No boundaries, just humanity. must respect to the people of Japan.

I dropped a lot of money into these while I was there. If you have ~120 in your pocket you won't go thirsty for very long! My favourites were Suntory Boss coffee and Lipton iced tea, though that one was harder to find. They even have vending machines for beer! I had an Asahi while climbing up to Fushimi Inari shrine and it was super refreshing.

I think the lack of variety in US machines may be due to the fact that the drink distributors place the machines and not a third party like 7-11. A decent vending machine with things like milk and eggs would be nice as well as a universally accepted pay card.

They're so musical! I loved the little jingles for when your train is arriving/leaving. I was on a train in Harajuku and the tune reminded me of something I would hear in the Legend of Zelda. Truly bizarre but a great way to make even train stations seem inviting and a good place to be.

Japan is awesome. Here in the states you're lucky to find a vending machine nearby and one that works. And you'd only find soda or water :( I could tell you're from the north haha, they say pop or coke. I've never heard that here in Texas. Just soda..we're boring :)

The card does not use the magnetic force for read and write. It is communicating with gate machine (and also vending machine) by weak radio waves. This weak radio wave will not damage your phone or magnetic cards.
