【Tazawa Onsen Masuya Ryokan】
Tazawa Onsen is a hot spring resort nestled in the mountains at an altitude of 700 meters in Nagano Prefecture. It is an old hot spring resort, said to have been established 1,300 years ago.
Tazawa Onsen is characterized by its slightly fragrant sulfur, slippery feeling, and warm water (40°C). Compared to other sulfur springs, such as cloudy sulfur springs that also have a sulfur aroma, the aroma and sensation are gentler, and the quality of the spring makes you want to bathe in it every day. The 40°C tepid water is recommended in summer. When you soak in Tazawa Onsen's tepid water and are enveloped by the scent of sulfur, you will feel so good that you will fall asleep and never want to get out. It is truly one of the best lukewarm water baths in Nagano Prefecture.
Tazawa Onsen is also known as the "hot spring for children," and is said to improve the flow of milk.
In the hot spring resort area, several inns stand along the stone-paved slope. There are no restaurants, and the quiet and leisurely pace of the area is perfect for those who want to spend time in peace and quiet. After climbing up the hill, you will find a public bath called "Uchi Yu.
The "Masuya Ryokan" is a three-story wooden ryokan with a history of a therapeutic bathhouse, and is designated as a registered tangible cultural property. The tall tower of the Masuya, consisting of several wings, makes you want to take a walk inside and outside the ryokan to carefully appreciate it.
