@@andrewlyke3973 it's the paper he uses as part of his process to stabilize an extremely damaged painting where the paint is peeling from the canvas. You can see it near the beginning of his recent video Lifting the Veil if I'm remembering the title correctly.

This is the best and most educational way to make paper. Paper made today has an industrial feel. If more younger people were to get involved in this, I would say, this paper that is made in a natural way will prove to be better!!

I am from kolkata, India , is watching this beautiful old Japanese technique of paper making and I am speechless. So beautiful amazing way and totally hand made, just unimaginable. Salute to my Japanese brother and request to continue it for 5 lakes years or crore I don't know generations after generation, or teach the Indian ( 140 crores population) the secret technology. This process is incredibly intriguing. It seems like the video was cut too soon, what is the paper in its finished form and what is it primarily used for? It is a real shame so many traditional things are going away these days .

Superb skill - producing a quality of such. The gentleman mentioned the decreasing number of young and lack of family members who are continuing. I attempt to teach the young, the skills I have gained, over a lifetime and if the same. The young see the heavy workload and harsh cold repetition, to gain this skill; to sustain ones self! Too difficult. Preferring maximum gain for least effort = decline. Your work is extraordinary and your video is here, passing on your knowledge. Respect to you sir.

Many years ago we used it for superlight flying airplane models. We called this "japanese chiffon", but I know that it wasn't chiffon, it was exactly washikozo. The same non-woven semitransparent material.

UNESCO is very grateful for Mr. Mizota's work. Kozo papers are in use for the recovery of parchments saved from the Islamic State in Mali, just as parts of the Oxyrhinkus Papyri are on kozo bases in the Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Cairo.

캬...아주 어릴적 학교도 가기전의 일이지만 동네 한가운데 문종이공장(닥종이공장)이라고 있었지 공장이라는 표현도 과할 정도의 동네 사람 몇몇이서 그야말로 중노동으로 종이를 뜨는... 닥나무 삶고 풀고 뜨고 하는것이 그때는 몰랐지만 참으로 힘든 노동이었을건데 .. 기억이 아련하네

That "bleached" kozo did NOT become bleached by sitting out in the sun. Curious how they chose to cut out the dangerous chemicals part of this process.
