Dotonbori, especially the Glico Running Man ad is featured in one of my favorite movies ever, Black Rain (1989), directed by Ridley Scott, and is in fact one of his earliest movies and definitely one of his most underrated. :)

Nanba district with Shinsekai and Dotonbori was my favorite in whole Osaka. As well as it was my second favorite city in Japan after Kyoto, followed by Tokyo.

Osaka is a very big city with a very nice ambiance ! 🏙😃 This city assembles amazingly and wonderfully the modern and traditional patrimony. 😯🙌🏻 Moreover, Osaka offers a large number of funny activities for everybody like the impressive Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan. 🐋🦀🤗 By the way, I finally found the places that I've always dreamed about when thinking about Japan : Dotonbori and Shinsekai. 😀 Both places have such a heartwarming ambiance through the people and the light show emerging from the neon signs, paper lanterns and restaurants. ☺ Thank you very much for having presented Osaka ! 🙏🏻

Very nice video ....informative and to the point. While Osaka Station is impressive ( I visited Japan , Osaka in particular twice last year), in my experience if you visit Japan you will spend PLENTY enough time schlepping through massive busy train stations and most likely will not find the need to see another .....just a thought.

@vlo48297 жыл бұрын
Oh, I remember the "old" Osaka Station. It was dirty and disgusting and unnecessarily confusing. It's much nicer now. They just need to get more trains or figure out how to better manage the crowds along the Tokaido Line, particularly those running towards Kyoto/Maibara. It just keeps getting more and more crowded year after year...

Thank you for the extremely helpful video Andrew! I agree with everything! The Umeda Sky Building is a definite must visit - one of the nicest observatory that I have visited. I would highly recommend investing in the Osaka Amazing Pass. Free admission the umeda sky building is included. Also, the HEP five ferris wheel is a short walk away and is also nice too. The ride wasnt as long as I hope but the experience is a must and is included in the osaka amazing pass! Last but not least, Dotonbori can not be missed. It is the heart of japan food culutre! Lots of venders tempted me to emptied my pocket and pigged out.

大阪人としてお礼申し上げます。個人的には天神橋筋商店街をおすすめします。メイン通りは勿論、そこから路地に入っていけば別世界があっちこっちに。 I give thanks as a person from Osaka. I recommend Tenjinbashi line mall personally. If, let alone a main street, go into the alley from there; another world in many places.

A good pick indeed! The famous bridge there can actually be seen at 0:14 of the video. Choosing only 5 things for Osaka was quite diificult. Sumiyoshi Taisha was definitely on the list for consideration and is certainly a worthwhile location. Thanks for the recommendation!

So looks like the Top 5 things are. Aquarium, you can do this anywhere in the world. Boring Shops, ok, so you can shop anywhere in the world, Boring Station, Looks like any international station, Boring Castle, does look interesting, worth seeing Shopping, again you can do this anywhere. You have NOT convinced me to visit Osaka. Looks boring according to these top 5.
