"Speaking at the opening of the new U.S. embassy in Jerusalem, Jared Kushner made a passing reference to Monday’s carnage in the Gaza Strip, where at least 52 Palestinian protesters were shot and killed by Israeli security forces in the worst violence there in almost four years.
“As we have seen from the protests of the last month and even today, those provoking violence are part of the problem and not part of the solution,” Kushner said.
The notion that Israeli forces were blameless in the ongoing violence, even as their role has been been condemned by human-rights groups and several governments over the last several weeks, is consistent with a White House that backs Benjamin Netanyahu’s heavy-handed tactics at every turn. Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah said on Monday that the deaths amounted to a “propaganda attempt” by Hamas, the militant organization that controls Gaza.
Still, Kushner’s remark was sufficiently callous that it was excised from the official White House transcript.”*

One man who was shot was a Canadian doctor, Tarek Loubani, an emergency physician from London, Ontario. According to The Globe And Mail, he was wearing a green surgeon's outfit and standing with several orange-vested paramedics some distance away from the protests at the border when he was shot through both legs by an Israeli sniper.

Deanna Delmar: I remember back on the day when Bill O'Reilly was fired from Fox News. Many hours before the official announcement by Fox there was a KZfaq video talking about the fact that Fox would announce the decision later that day. Under the Comments I wrote "Yes it's true. According to a spokesperson close to Fox News they were already in the process of interviewing potential candidates to replace Bill O'Reilly. Possible applicants include Bill Cosby and Roger Ailes." Dragon Fox Neither religion nor politics excuses the persecution or the gunning down of the blatantly unarmed. Nor does it make one turd shinier than the other. All are equally inexcusable. The point being that dialog and diplomacy, being the preferable options towards peace, may only be possible when platforms are provided for the voices seeking peace. As opposed to the wall to wall warmongering, or lying to get war et al etc etc. I’ve been fed a diet of Israel bad and Jews bad my entire life. But if I hold out hope that reasonable people exist that seek peace in all sides, then I wonder why I never get to hear these voices come out of Israel anymore. All I get to hear is Netanyahu. Every once in a while you manage to hear a lone Israeli voice crying out somewhere that they disagree with what their government is doing and they want a peaceful option. But that voice is rapidly swallowed. I wonder what might come to pass, how much better it may be for all parties here, if those voices grew louder, not dimmer. Dare I naively hope; a better world? A safer Israel? A better life for the Palestinians? Peace?

Other countries in the UN should rein in Israel and the USA. Excusing a massacre, a very well-witnessed one at that, is unacceptable. Revert the embassy back to Tel Aviv until Israel makes itself right with its neighbors (though 60 of them including 12 children will never be able to forgive Israel for their crime). At this point you can call the Palestinian territories pretty much conquered. This is nothing short of a massacre and should be treated as such. I think at this point peace should not be a two state solution and the Palestinians should be granted full Israeli citizenship within a generation. We have a model for how this peace could be structured in our own history with the Native American tribes. As it stands now the Palestinians have had no rights in their own lands for about 70 years. The Jewish state must separate church and state to accomplish peace properly, give these people rights and absorb the disputed territories. For what it's worth, I think that can work.

Do not forget the atrocities and ethnic cleansing policies by European settlers against the natives of Australia, the Americas and Africa. If the Americans and others start questioning inhuman policies of the Zionist State and its army of settlers, they would be looking at a mirror that criminalizes their own ancestral actions against humanity. Nabil, you have answered your own question a bit there. I don't think this has anything to do with humanitarianism, just religious and political reasons, and tribalism. And maybe, especially in the beginning when Isreal was founded and why it was founded in the first place, guilt after the Holocaust, at least from countries in Europe and the US. But with humanitarian reasons this has nothing to do. Mostly just tribalism, religion, and politics.

Munir El Kadi. That is definitely playing into it as well, but I don't think that much. Over here in Europe, most countries to admit to their violent history. Britain for example was always more open with that and they still support Israel mostly. Here in Germany too, most people at least acknowledge our Nazi-past, and we also admitted to genocides before that in Africa. Ok, maybe this actually plays into your point, because I think over here there are a lot more people critical of Israel. Overall its a stupid argument, since the past is the past and we hold ourselves to current standards. Maybe not being overly critical of everything, given that all countries have dirt in their past, but still, its fair to have that past and still criticize current governments that act in such a way.

yes i agree with you. and i we cannot compare the events and invasions that happened before the resolution of UN to after. this ethnic clensing is happening now in the today and everyoone seems to turn a blind eye over it as though it does not happen at all. we are folding 'humanity' chants seems very decieving when it comes to israel.

A lot of people just don't really care that much what happens somewhere else I think, not enough to actually do anything. The Governments can only really do sanctions, and that does happen sometimes. I think the UN sanctioned Israel and condemned it when there expanded their settlements again a while ago. I think only Israel voted against that, and the US, still under Obama I believe, decided to stay neutral and note vote. Maybe we will see more sanctions in the future, but I don't expect much, sadly. Unless the people in the individual countries start to openly speak out against it more. At least here in Germany, that seems to happen, Israel is slowly, but constantly loosing favor. But we did actually have to face such stupid nonsense, like the allegation that criticizing Israel might be antisemitic. But I think we are past that point now. A bit surprising, but we also for the most part, have come to terms with our past and acknowledge it, that helps moving on, and it helps to put a clear line between antisemitism and criticizing Israels current policies. Still is a bit weird when we Germans do it.

Hayleys comments are ridiculous and actually given her position very disturbing. One example-Snipers picking off unarmed "targets" (humans) from afar on the other side of the border is hardly showing restraint. Israel is playing Trump(which seems easy in hindsight) for their own gain. I am sadly beginning to believe those who say a rather large war is not that far away.
