Great to see Jarrow Road station building started. Welcome back to the loft. Just spent the afternoon in mine varnishing some cottages and running some locomotives around to check everything is ok. G'day Tony. Glad to see you back As regards to up scaling the station I would not do as it is station road and in true scale that would never be done! saying that I think the area you are building Jarrow Road is small, confined and would not justify such a large looking station. Cheers from down under Wally

Good morning Tony, great to see you, hope you've had a good break catching up with family and maybe just relaxing a bit. I can't believe I missed you yesterday and only just seen the video this morning. That was a great opening sequence loved seeing the DMU running and pulling into South Shelds. That station is truly amazing that roof brings the little hairs up on the back of my neck. The slightly revised plans for the station looks amazing I'm so looking forward to following your adventures in Jarrow road. I don't normally remark on small items where I see a mistake as it's not my railway, but the chap who commented on the loading bay doors is quite right the bracing on the back of the door should go from the outside to the door raising up to the middle to support the door and reduce sagging. Anne is always saying to me when I watch a film or the telly and I spot the prop guys have hung the door wrong, "oh goodness sake watch the film and not how they build the set" but I suppose 55+ years as a carpenter and joiner does that to a person. Anyway little point and the doors look the part. Like the bits of scenery your adding its those bit and pieces that give the layout depth. I've been busy with the family this summer, we've been on holiday with the Surrey lot and went to Norfolk had the most amazing time went on the broads that's a first for us. With my family down here we've just been having days out going on beach etc. I'm doing bits on the layout I've started wireing lights around so that's exciting, and over the autumn and winter there's the possibility that I'll be able to set up a permanent home for "Grand Chiltern" me and Alfie's layout, so we won't have to dismantle it every time we have visitors to stay. More about that in the coming weeks anyway I've prattled on enough lovely to see you take care both, Eddy and Anne xx

Hi Eddy. it was great to have some time out. which has helped with a new outlook in life. as we are not getting any younger. so my videos may not be weekly as they once were. a little detail on the large doors can easily be put right. i guess that what happens when working upside down with the camera. these things happen. at least we have made a good start on the station. its going to be an interesting build. as its mostly made up as i go along. except for the centre section. its great that you are still keeping the grand children occupied. they will be back to school soon. but i am guessing you we still see them on special visits. take care my friend...best wishes Tony & Laura

Dear Tony, just a little detail; diagonal bracing of doors like the loading bay doors generally need to form a triangle which will go up to the middle of the door in true scale. This triangle assists the hinges to keep the door ‘up’. The triangle towards the lower middle, or farthest away side, of the door, will allow more room for the door to sag over time. This downward triangle sort of reinforces the gravitational pull on the door. Nevertheless, I certainly don’t mind the downward details. Humbly think all of your doors look awesome. Looking forward to the next iteration of Jarrow Road!! Cheerio

Love the intro filmography, Tony. Very professional. 😊 I have to take issue with you, my friend, regarding what looks like a Midland water crane 😯 North Western Models do a very nice LNER water crane kit, which looks the part. 😎 Big mods to the station building. Will the two story sections have flat roofs? Have you got Planning Consent from the Coonsil for the variation? Great to see you making a start on the building, ‘Back at the Bench’. You could have made one or two of your sash windows partly open at the bottom, like I have mine at home, when the weather is hot. Just an idea for added interest, buddy. Best, Jason.
