The gender differences between the questions for women vs men is so staggeringly obvious like it's almost painful. So the least scandalous one for sure. And I'm obsessed with this content!!

In regards to the question that Jarvis & Eddie skipped, I got curious since it seemed the next question was still for the next checkpoint. The thing with this show is that it's all in the way they perceive the truth themselves. He says he never gambled away his son's college money because, in his mind, he did not take any gambling funds out of a specific college fund account, even if he technically cumulatively gambled as much as it would take to send him to college. He says he made a pass at a friend because, whatever he did do, he knew was probably wrong. So it could be as much as he made a move on one of them or as little as he flirted in a way that made him feel guilty.

exactly! the questions aren't really asking if something really did or didn't happen, they're asking if the person believes it happened. If he doesn't believe he gambled away college money then thats his truth for the show. You really get to see this in the UFO episode. I feel like they treat it as though they're trying to prove what actually happened but in the case of this show, it doesn't matter what happened. It doesn't matter if he was really abducted by aliens or not because he believes his story. It really is just testing what people perceive to be the truth.

He overcompensates by paying for things even when he doesn't have the money. He's never really said sorry or addressed anything that happened but i've also never brought it up. hey, question for you, kinda putting you on the spot so feel free to not answer: would you rather people [upon first meeting] ask what pronouns you prefer, or to guess (in good faith) what they think you'd like to be addressed as (and obviously, correct accordingly if the initial pronouns were incorrect)? I guess my question is if this is a first conversation kind of thing, or no, or if it varies a lot from person to person. I'm assuming the answer is to ask, but I don't actually know so.. I guess I'm asking whether to ask lol. I'd just rather not ruin somebody's day if I can help it, ya'know?
@senpais2 жыл бұрын
@@idontwantahandlethough personally i would feel better if someone asked, but it really depends on the person! it varies a lot, because some ignorant people might get offended if you don't immediately use their pronouns based on their appearance, and other trans people might not feel comfortable discussing their pronouns openly because they're still closeted. it's all dependent on the person, but i'd say in general it's best to ask first!

Some of these questions are so not indicative of a person's personality. Like the questions about being more attractive than her sister, the marriage one, basically any question that's based on personal opinions probably change all the time. And the fact that she has told her sister the opposite of those opinions means she cares about her sister enough not to be openly resentful towards her

I feel it's worth mentioning that asking "do you plan to be a virgin on your wedding night" is essentially just asking "are you a virgin" because if she says yes then obviously she is, and if not then the framing of the question still seems to suggest that she is. And of course if she said no you can probably assume Mark's gonna ask if that's because she's already not a virgin anymore. It feels like she was straight-up asked that in the polygraph test and then the writers were like "c'mon, that's not cool even for 2008" so they re-worded it -slightly- but without fundamentally altering what they were getting at. Ok watching this back I realized that Jarvis said "59 minutes in" instead of saying "59 seconds in" and you know what. That's very valid. Time is hard. Numbers are weird to me anyway and this just amused me now that I noticed it lol

I think the college fund question and the guy saying he came to the show to answer it is about the fact that his ex wife lied to the son about it and the son was not sure if he was telling the truth when he said he didn't gamble it away. And since the show makes you take a polygraph test, he wanted to prove to his son that he was in fact telling the truth and make him rest easy about it.

Um it’s great that he’s honest about his gambling addiction but this is literally gambling so how did his family not try to stop this idea, it might trigger more gambling which would harm them all.
@bobobee92062 жыл бұрын
I kept thinking this the entire time but then I thought about it like what if he didn't go on for the money, he went on to tell the truth once and for all? Like it seemed almost therapeutic for him to be able to clear the air with his son in a way that he knew his father wasn't lying. He probably spent so many years lying due to his addiction he wanted to show everyone and prove to himself that he had changed and he could be truthful?

@@bobobee9206 idk it seems like a really odd way to win back the trust of your family lol, i have a hard time believing that the allure of hundreds of thousands of dollars of prize money had *nothing* to do it

Also, I would never ever go on a show like this. Literally could not pay me enough money to be honest about what goes on in my head. I am a pathological people pleaser and conflict avoidant. Nope nope nope keeping all that shit in my head. This shit is for therapy, not for a show to destroy all my relationships.

NGL, I think the conversation around the younger-sister-married-first question makes the woman in the second round look good. She has some things she'd be a bit uncomfortable with and find a bit awkward and have some trouble with about the proposed scenario but she doesn't make it a whole thing. She still would support her sister and want her to be happy and have love and all that and she always just tells her sister that part because she doesn't wanna make it about her or put her discomforts or insecurities over her sister's happiness in life and love or put a dampener on the mood or the well-wishes. Good on her.
