I am glad that you give this extremely exceptional Nordic group a chance. I tell you a little about its history. The group, which are two boys and one girl, have Norwegian, Danish and German nationality and uses instruments such as horns of different animals, drums, human bones, rattles with human ashes, bells, stones, all to go back to the first musical compositions that They were able to interpret 10,000 years ago, in the iron age in northern Europe. All the letters are taken from carved gadgets from the era of the Nordic iron, such as arrowheads, bows, swords, rune stones and recite poems and psalms of war, peace and protection. Whereupon and for this, heilung, which means healing in German, is in close collaboration with archaeologists specializing in the field. The languages used by heilung are several. Among them are Latin, Old Danish, German and English. They were so successful with their first album that they had to release a new live album, which includes 2 new songs. Also a video of that album live and this year they released their second work, futha, which is a much more feminine work. His first album, Ofnir, is much more aggressive and masculine. During the concerts some representations of how these ancient rituals of the iron age could be made. Also just finished the soundtrack of the video game Hellblade 2. I hope this review helps you to understand a bit the context of this musical group. Ah ... if you want to hear the wonderful voice of Maria Franz, vocalist of Heilung, I recommend this video of her concert. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/npdypq56tZrZiYE.html Other interesting songs are: Fylgija Ear, Alfadhirhaiti, Othan and Hamrer Hippyer.

She is singing a 1,500 year old spell (the word galdr means a sung spell) in it's original language (a distant ancestor of English called proto Germanic). When you listen something strange happens, something like memory, but different. You don't know what the memory is "of", but you know how it feels. And it hasn't been felt for 1,500 years. The words she is signing were taken directly from the runes inscribed on the Eggja stone. Good stuff. Thanks. Don't forget to remember ;-)

Heilung is such an amazing group, and their take on things is truly amazing. They don't have concerts, they are rituals. They don't have fans, they have brothers and sisters. Their brothers and sisters that are in attendance are very much as important to the ritual as they themselves are up on the stage. Also, about a week ago they put out a music video to my favorite song of theirs, "Norupo" check that out....its pretty awesome!

And for another trippy little fact on this freakin awesome band... those bones she's tapping are human bones. She said in an interview once (back when travel was possible) travelling with them through customs can be quite a challenge. Maria Franz's voice is phenomenal - such incredible control and clarity. Have a trawl through their stuff - translations of some of their music adds even further layers of complexity and awesomness.

fun fact, Krigsgaldr translates into "war incantation". The name alone is a frightening one, and the message of grief and fighting for survival instead of glory is very emotional. The music video they made for it really drives home the sad story of the song. Easily one of my favorite songs for the message, the ancient language, and the heavy percussion.

"Krig" means "war" in most nordic languages (German: Krieg, as in blitz-krieg). Galdr can mean "magic" or "money" depending on the language. Denmark is between Germany and Norway so maybe put the pin in Denmark? I would call this Bronze-age folk metal. Why not?

@dagfinntjsvoll2277
@dagfinntjsvoll2277 4 жыл бұрын
Norwegian viking age enthusiast/re-enacter here. Galdr is a strange word, but in this context it means to sing or chant, combined with spell/enchantment/incantation. The word itself means spell (as in magic) or incantation, but to perform a galdr is to sing or chant said spell/incantation. This album is about a peaceful village that is forced to defend themselves (go to war) against a neighbouring tribe, and if you pay attention to the english part of it, you'll catch on quickly. If you react to In Maidjan from the same album, you'll hear the chant they use before going to war, invoking all the pantheon for protection, courage and strength. Highly recommended! "What am I supposed to do If I want to talk about peace and understanding But you only understand the language of the sword What if I want to make you understand that the path you chose leads to downfall But you only understand the language of the sword What if I want to tell you to leave me and my beloved ones in peace But you only understand the language of the sword I let the blade do the talking... So my tongue shall become iron And my words the mighty roar of war Revealing my divine anger's arrow shall strike All action for the good of all I see my reflection in your eyes But my new age has just begun The sword is soft In the fire of the furnace It hungers to be hit And wants to have a hundred sisters In the coldest state of their existence They may dance the maddest In the morass of the red rain Beloved brother enemy I sing my sword song for you The lullaby of obliteration So I can wake up with a smile And bliss in my heart And bliss in my heart And bliss in my heart Coexistence, Conflict, combat ! Devastation, regeneration, transformation ! That is the best I can do for you I see a grey gloom on the horizon That promises a powerful sun to rise To melt away all moons It will make the old fires of purification Look like dying embers (x3)"

I won't go into the details of this band, as others have already done it, but believe it or not, this style of music appeals to metalheads probably more than anybody else, because metalheads like that Nordic stuff from bands like Amon Amarth and Norwegian Black Metal. In fact, you could almost call this Iron Age Black Metal. 😁

Wardruna is a awesome band that's sorta similar. The lead singer does some music for 'Vikings' that was performed live and is intense. If you want something... unique... CocoRosie. That would make a reaction and a half.

Jesus Christ is the only one worth following. He died for you in your place, no greater act of love has ever been demonstrated in all of history. He’s real. Seek and you will find that there is so much proof that everything in the Bible is truth, the only word from any God worth listening to. Give up and turn from your sins, there’s a much better life worth living. It might not make sense now, but pick up a Bible and just lean into discovering Yahweh and Yeshua (Hebrew for “I Am (God)’” and “Jesus”). I understand that reading this just feels like I’m making a desperate and forced attempt to convert you, if I was the me from just a couple years ago I’d hate to read this comment. But it’s the truth and you don’t know how much you need this. You are Loved!

@@jonn8388 Paganism is the truth faith of any child of Europa, and Christ is a disgusting perversion that destroyed beautiful European cultures. You utterly disgust me, and your disgusting attempt to convert this man. Fuck off.

E M I didn’t try to convert him, there’s a difference between giving someone an offer and forcing someone to believe something they don’t want to. If God wanted everyone to everyone to to force everyone to love him, he could of just did that himself. I mean yeah he wants everyone to follow him, but he’s never be one to force his will on others. That’s just more proof he is a loving God, he cares enough to let you do whatever you want, just don’t think there isn’t consequences for doing wrong. I understand what you mean about Paganism being part of European diversity, but the problem is, not everyone can be right. Sure there is some appeal to the mystic beliefs in old European culture, but it’s only logical to assume only one religion is right, and everyone who followed the wrong religion ends up in the true religion’s idea of hell. Jesus was real, there is documentation of his birth and existence and thousands of testimonies of his resurrection. I’m not forcing a conversion on you, just giving you a warning worth heading. Love you

@@jonn8388 while enjoying YT videos for free, I get ads. In most of them, they offer me things without forcing me, just like you. Do you really think they're not trying to make a sale? Also, when the mafia's "godfather" makes an "offer" there is a cultural background that turns it into a violent threat. With the Christian teachings on a spiritual Gehena/Hell/Lake of Fire, your "offer" carries a similar threat. I personally take it no more seriously than the Nordic Hel and her frost giants, but yes, you laid on the pressure to try to convert me. There is documentation of the birth of Jesus, but nothing written during his alleged lifetime. Matthew and Luke disagree on the year of his birth badly, too. Between claims of Herod being alive, the reign of Tiberius, and the Roman census, it's impossible to pin down the year from the bible. Between Virgo (virgin), the House of Bread (Bethlehem), and the 3 Wise Men (Orion's belt) tracing a path through the brightest star to the East where the new Sun will rise, it seems that Luke's "eyewitness testimony" included some strange astrological code that he took literally by mistake, too. Speaking of literalism, you are correct that not all pagan gods can literally be true. It's possible that one god is real, and the rest made up, or it's possible they're all made up. Taken as psychological archetypes, representing seasons, cultures, and major aspects of human emotion, life events, etc, all the gods are very real! YHWH and JHVH are both attempts at Hebrew consonants, and the vowels are just guesses, but speaking of Hebrew, Elohim is grammatically plural, and a common name for their god who says "let *us* make man in *our* image" and the next verse is "male and female he made them." "El" is the root word for all the ancient Mesopotamian gods, and most Hebrew names, such as El Shaddai and many others simply mean the highest god, the mightiest god, the great king of all gods. Your literalistic morphism of modern Christianity is but a twisted thread dangling from a large tapestry of Middle Eastern paganism, stripped of psychological meaning. Shem Hamephorash!

I know it digresses very from this particular style of music, but since the heading or these reaction videos are "Rock or not" I'd like to suggest Greta Van Fleet - Highway Tune. They're basically Led Zep born again. I'm probably gonna spam that request a videos to come... xD I love those guys so much. Edit: Oh and the live version is a must ofc.

I don't know if KZfaqrs will comment on videos from months ago, but here goes. Seeing all these different artists and genres represented is so cool. I've added some music to my library just because I saw you react to the videos. Keep doing what you're doing. Several artists/groups for you: Enya - she does Celtic stuff. Try Echos in Rain or Caribbean Blue, for starters. Her music is so relaxing. Molly Sanden - I actually just discovered her myself because of the new Eurovision movie with Will Ferrel. Try Phoenix, Freak, or Storrë. She's Swedish and really really good. Two Steps From Hell - mostly epic instrumental stuff. Try Flight of the Silverbird or Archangel. Vangelis - the artist behind Chariots of Fire. My personal fav is Hymne.
