Then add the fact that it's all due to a mental health issue on her side ( bipolar 1 disorder) . I want to be strong for her and help, but when your getting verbally beat down day in day out by the one you love more than any thing. It's a slow painful death to put it bluntly. Do you abandone her or put your self thru this with the hope you and her make it back from the darkness.

It sure does hang around forever... you never actually get over anyone in my opinion it just starts to sting a little less.. my husband and I split 8 years ago after 11years and 2 children.. I have found a man that I love now more than anything amd in most ways he is a better man than my ex.. but I STILL do have things creep into my head and heart sometimes and it does still sting.. I've never healed and I truly don't think I ever will... but that is exactly what love is.. it isn't something you can just turn on or off if you really did love the person.. I'll always love him.. not the same way and I'd NEVER actually try to or want to be back with him.. our marriage was EXTREMELY TOXIC.... but still those good memories creep in and sometimes the dreams come and I've had many night that I've woken up crying or feeling my chest was empty or like my heart was LITERALLY ripped from my chest.. but then I need to remind myself that the bad was VERY BAD and it was MORE BAD then good.. but for some reason a heart only seems to remember the good, which makes it harder... never does any kind of love leave you.. it changes and might get less intense but it ALWAYS stays with you.. that's why songs like this truly speak to so many people and truly helps us to know that EVERYONE is or has gone through the same things... that's why I do love country music.. it is soul touching songs that tell the stories of the heart... both good and bad

Dark Dark time's when I was on substance abuse benjers . I remember this song (When playing on the radio) Would always describe my trouble with substance abuse and never ending benjiz that i would be on for weeks on end . I'm sober now and Happy and thankful to be on the other side of those Dark Dark days . But my daily recovery therapy is forever . I'm always gonna need to continue working on my Addictive personality for the entire rest of my life ("Because of the Addiction sickness") . But that's small potatoes compared to the Dark place that I've successfully escaped from . If anyone's reading this comment . Please steer clear from substances and alcohol usage . When I was 19 I graduated high school(2009) and was lucky to get a job living out west in Yellowstone National park. I spent a year out there, during that time I had a long distance relationship end (she was back in Michigan) and I was living on my own for the first time. I remember she visited me in Yellowstone and she broke up with me when I dropped her off in Bozeman. On my way back to Yellowstone I stopped And got a pack of cigars and sat on the roof of my buddy’s car I barrowed and smoked cigars and listened to this song watching the stars. God that was almost 14 years ago and every time hear This song I’m brought right back to that summer and especially that night. Backwoods cigars and thing song are like a portal to the past for me This summer I’m bringing wife and daughters to visit Yellowstone they have always wanted to see it after all my storys from living there very special place to me

I went through a terrible separation from my kids mother and this song correlated to my kids asking how I am when we weren't speaking... 3 months of not a word to my children sure broke me down. Thankfully we fixed it but man... I heard this song today and it sure made me think of the worst time in my life and how lost I was.
