I cant believe that Ray Harryhausen did not receive an academy award for best special visual effects in 1963 for this movie. The animation is absolutely unbelievable!!!!!!! The man is a genius! He worked on all the special effects on his own. I'm so glad that he was finally awarded a lifetime acheivement award for his work, presented to him by Tom Hanks, sometime in the early 90s. Ray Harryhausen is a legend!

This still looks better than most CGI from the past ten years. There's an artistry to it, someone took the time to lovingly handcraft each one of those models, and spend days animated them frame by frame. A human touch that's lost with CGI.

Ray Harryhausen was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of his time. He could give a few pointers to todays special affects artists. I was 10 years old when I saw this movie in 1963. And this scene still has me uneasy and amazed some 47 years later!!!

This has got to be one of my all time favorites! I still think it looks and feels better than what we have today. I made sure my sons had videos so they could have the cool childhood experience. We were on a sort of ill fated vacation when one of my sons looked up to the heavens and exclaimed "Zeus, why must you mock me every day!" Priceless.

Very good father. I think many parents misstep in providing their children with sub-standard media and entertainment, because they figure they either don't care or don't deserve it. Not true. If anything, they need it more than adults. They need interesting, advanced, and invigorating stories, such as can only be found in vintage films. They don't need some drummed-up nonsense with lots of bright colors and loud noises, to distract the poor souls from reality. That just lowers the kid's standard for what is considered quality, and in turn lowers it for his generation.

This is one of the best movies ever made. The skeleton fight is still one of the most exciting action sequences, especially when they come out of the ground. Ever since I saw this as a kid, it's always been fun to wipe out skeletons in any fantasy based game, like Diablo, Oblivion, etc.

One of the greatest pieces of work from the god of stop-motion, Ray Harryhausen. With stop-motion, you really have to put all your heart into every inch of movement, and it shows here. The animation is awesome, and it's easy to forget that actors and skeletons are not really on the same screen - something CGI rarely accomplishes for me because it's so artifical. Looking back, this scene alone might be the reason why the undead will always be my favorite faction in any kind of video game ^^ !

Man, that is some sweet FX. They must have choreographed and filmed that scene with real stunt men standing in for the skeletons, then filmed it again for the heroes to mime the whole thing again against nothing. Those skeletons move more like stunt men actors than animation characters.

Actually, they did do a remake of this in 2000 and the skeleton fight scene was pretty remarkable too. The skeletons had Greek helmets instead of skulls and they dashed themselves to pieces against each other as Jason ducked and whirled in between them. I saw this in the drive in theatre in 1979 before Close Encounters, but this scene in particular, and the clashing rocks, always were standouts. The music is fantastic too, especially the percussion and horn section.

The medusa scene in clash of the titans was certainly well paced and looks great - and indeed scary - but its the sheer complexity of the choreography and the personality that he gives the skeletons in jason and the argonauts that makes that the overall best for me.
