Bourne (Matt Damon from Good Will Hunting and The Martian) leaves the hotel, and when he sees The Asset (Vincent Cassel from La Haine and Black Swan) running away, he steals a car and chases after him. They are followed by all available police forces in their frantic race. Very quickly, the police are lost. But the armoured van of The Asset destroys everything in its path. Bourne does everything in his power not to let him get away, and after a very long and intense chase, he manages to land him in a casino, with no possibility of escape.

The Jason Bourne films are a series of American action, spy and thriller films based on the character of Jason Bourne, a CIA killer suffering from amnesia, created by writer Robert Ludlum.
It's been twenty years since Jason Bourne (Matt Damon from Good Will Hunting and The Martian) stepped away from the agency that turned him into a true human weapon. Hoping to bring him out of retirement, CIA director Robert Dewey (Tommy Lee Jones from the Men in Black saga) hires hacker and counterinsurgency expert Heather Lee (Alicia Vikander from Tomb Raider and The Danish Girl) to find him. Lee suspects that former agent Nicky Parsons (Julia Stiles from 10 Things I Hate About You and Riviera) is also looking for him. As he tracks these two, Jason Bourne finds himself back in the thick of the action against a sinister network that uses terror and technology to keep himself in control.

Fun Fact: The Las Vegas car chase sequence took five weeks to shoot and at the end, the sequence wrecked 170 cars. No CGI was added to the scene.

@@MilkDrinker218 The CVPi does not because it presents a disorientation and danger risk to officers if it goes off in a chase. This is why they were built to withstand such impacts because they need to be rugged to protect the officer outside of needing airbags.

This blows. One thing that offends some people (tough $h!t) is that IMO there are hands down no chase scenes done in North America since The French Connection that come anywhere close to driving action filmed in the UK or Europe. Even the vehicles themselves seem to be less interesting. Certainly less nimble.

I agree, Bourne's car would have been a wreck long before it was in this. Plus, police in the USA carry shotguns in their patrol cars I believe? A madman on the loose in one of their own armoured cars? SWAT on the ground or not, you don't try to stop a vehicle like that with handguns.

Even if the physics were more realistic, an issue with doing a Las Vegas Blvd chase scene is that it's one landmark after another and you just see them passing by the same hotels multiple times

Credit to the Asset, he headed to his Extraction Point by any and all means after his Mission was blown by Bourne, even down to creating the kind of incident that would draw in every security agency in the USA to figure out what the hell, who and why? Still, Bourne was in a fast car and the Asset was in an armoured SWAT truck, how did Bourne intend to stop him? Hope?

You can see that this is filmed with a digital camera and lacks the filmic 35mm effect that previous films had. Just a smal thing like that can shift viewing pleasure.

Actually if you ever played any open world game, like GTA or similar, heavy vehicles are great to escaping the police or anyone that is chasing you, because you can smash the traffic in front of you and no police car can stop you, also is a great way to create barriers to the police to dodge, because they would have hard time dodging the smashed cars in the way, that is the reason why he chose the SWAT vehicle, if he wasn't chased by Bourne, he could simply lost the police, go to an alley, change of vehicle and disappear into the night.

Unfortunately the Bourne films have fallen to the _bigger louder faster more expensive_ disease. It's just flashy and over the top that it feels like a *Fast and the Furious* chase. If they do another Bourne film it will just be formulaic, but this time they will use super cars or proper military vehicles, perhaps desert stunt buggies ? And they'll probably add CGI. The best Bourne chase IMHO was in Russia with the second film. They should have ended the franchise on the third as a self contained trilogy.

nah, Bourne was always a example of a realistic and great action movie, I really doubt if they would lose what make them different, a terrific script, a good fight scene, a incredible car chase, a adorable foot chase, the great characters, and a awesome direction, Bourne wouldn't risk what make his films special, not all movies of Bourne are great, but they didn't change to much, he was the creator of all that things

Anyone else bothered by the Taken 3 editing style of this scene? Look at the last 30 seconds on the scene there’s more than a cut per second.

LOL. That swat truck isn't a tank.. It's just slightly bulletproof.. Running through those cars would have destroyed it.

IRL the Bearcat would've stalled or overheated its engine upon hitting the weight of all those cars combined with the weight of its armoring, but pretty cool nonetheless.

17000 lbs typically, if the truck was going at least 80mph I can see this happening with a lot of lightweight cars Maybe not as many as it did in the film though like holy

Probably one of the worst car chases out of the whole series. Cool thing about the old ones is he used a regular car, and it wasn’t this unrealistic
