@@jjviolator Wrong Wrong WRONG St George was from Cappadocia, Turkey. His parents were both Greek Christians.. After his father died, he and his mother moved to Lydda, her place of birth. Lydda is the Greek name, Lod was the Hebrew name. The romans created the name palestinia as a bastardisation of Phillistine, to try and disassociate the region from the Jews. Palestine never became a country until 1988. Make sure you read that bit. 1988 is when it first became a country. If you follow the muslim version, bear in mind the religion wasn't manufactured for another 400 years. St George was executed By Emperor Diocletian in 303 AD, because he would not give up Christianity. According to muslims he was from palestine. They also say that there were great plagues around the world and the sun dimmed when George was resurrected for the 4th time !!! LOL St George was canonised in AD 494 by Pope Gelasius.

Don’t blame Nike for this. It’s solely down to the FA. They are the client, they signed off on the design. I’ve worked for over 30 years in design and advertising and at the end of the day, regardless of what I’ve created, the end decision for sign-off is always the client.

@chris56269 true, but out of interest I looked at my old England shirts and found that it is only the Nike shirts that don't have it somewhere on the shirt out of all the modern designs. All my Umbro England shirts have it somewhere, at least once on every shirt. Sometimes it is inside the shirt on the neckline, sometimes it is on the shoulders, etcetera. The only Nike England shirt I have is the blue away shirt with a collar. I didn't even think about the St. George not being on the shirt with that one. It is only because they changed the colours on it and called it a playful reimagining of it; it isn't playful, it is disrespectful. That flag is an English iconographical image, it represents every English person already. It doesn't need changing to be inclusive because it already is, regardless of how its been used in the past. I've seen non English people who are disgusted by this, Scottish, Welsh, Irish, American. It isn't just the English.

Absolutely disgusting. I'm personally offended. Just the reason I needed to abandon footy all together. The knee nearly did it for me I didn't watch for two seasons. Now I'm done. Anyone English who follows football needs to make a stand before the game is completely ruined .. if it's not already too late. Boycott games in mass numbers is the only way... It's the insidious underlying message that simply being English is not enough to be seen as a uniting point. If you are black, white, gay, straight, religious, atheist, the English flag represents us all. But no, they need to introduce ridiculous pride flags etc to fly as well, as if they need some sort of extra representation. Nike - a US company - have a remit for changing colours and patterns and designs on a shirt. They have NO remit to change a country's flag.

Im Irish. But I think lets keep football flags for each country the actual flags. Even though I dont want England to win the Euros, the decision to not have your real flag on the shirt is woke gone mad. The FA gave this the ok? Nuts. And the price is insane. How many occasions has the St George's cross appeared on the England shirt? It doesn't matter. Anyone that buys this shirt is a disgrace. You can go to jail in some countries for denigrating or defacing their flag. Nike feels compelled to 'reinterpret' the English flag. Why? This could only happen to England. I'm Scottish end it offends me. Hopefully, Nike will suffer the commercial consequences of this nonsense.

The price of football shirts have become ridiculous now. They used to have legislation in place to prevent teams from changing kits every year, they used to have to have a kit for 2 years minimum so it was fair for fans. Football is no longer a game for everyone, it has become the new golf, have to have money to enjoy it.
