My boyfriend and I had lots of ups and downs since we were 15 years old. Everybody was telling us we were too young to recognize love. Both of our parents think that-- mostly my parents. They were worried it would affect my studies and not finish college. So when this came out we related to this song and this has been our song ever since. Last year was the hardest year in our relationship. We couldn't get past a week without arguing. We were both tired of just about everything that's happening. We both forgot how to communicate. We couldn't understamd what each other was saying. He was about to go to another country for work and I believed at that time we couldn't survive the distance. We were constantly arguing when we were together, so I thought what more when we're far away from each other. We talked a few days before his flight. We gave up trying to understand the other. We were just finishing what we ordered in the cafe and I was planning to go home. I nearly finished my order when suddenly he said something under his breath "out of all the days..." I asked him "What?" And he just looked at me smiling with soft eyes saying "Nothing." After a few seconds I knew what he was talking about. On the speakers of the cafe was this song playing. And I just broke down and he started crying. We didn't care if people were staring at us. Listening to this song in that cafe at that exact moment brought up all that we've been through and how we got past all of it. After the song, we just looked at each other and decided to talk more about our problems. We talked for hours until our tears dried out. At the end of the night we decided to work things out. I believe God sent this song at that moment to give us a sign and remind us of our promise to not give up even if the skies get rough. It's our 10th anniversary today. ❤️ Years ago we planned to have our wedding today. but we couldn't due to financial reasons and also him being in another country for work. UPDATE: We now have a kid ❤️

This was my song for my preemie NICU baby. Born at 31 weeks with a bowel perforation, esophageal perforation followed after failed intubation attempts. I don't think I really knew what love was until that little guy made his appearance. This song helped me through that 4 months of hearing he wasn't gonna make it home. Several surgeries, transfusions, bloodclots, meds, procedures and a few colds later, we're home and thriving and still listening ❤ this is his favourite song, always calms him down. Xo

I'm only 12 yrs old when my Mom died then the next year my Dad followed her. I was devastated. No one can talk with you if you have a problem. Every day I cried. I need hugs. I need people to talk to. It was 13 yrs ago and this song really hits that time of my life. I'm proud of myself for surviving those years. Now I have a family, and I can say I'm complete, and nothing to ask for more. Thank God

This song has so much meaning for so many of us. My son was 8 when this song came out and he was having issues with school, teachers said he's quiet and purposely ignoring them and refuses to talk, one even went so far as to say he's rude. I knew that wasn't my child, he wasn't rude, he was my sweet caring little boy who was the loudest person in the house! At the time was I was majoring in special education and talked to my professor about this who mentioned selective mutism/social anxiety disorder. Every single symptom was my son. Through several appointments with specialist and official diagnosis, he started getting help in school to help him progress, while I continued to advocate for this rare disorder for my son. Today he is almost 17, an honor student and can now communicate with most people! I told him years ago I won't give up on you my beautiful boy and still will NEVER give up. In this scary world now with COVID 19 none of us should ever give up! Thank you Jason Mraz for such a deep meaningful song for so many us but especially for my beautiful son!

Nancy Diamond Thank you so much for sharing your story. I’m a mom of 3 children (6, 5 and 4) and I think about them all the time when I am listening to this beautiful song. With the same hope that I will see them drive in this beautiful but sometimes a little bit scary world that we are living in. But also when I feel so tired and felling that I am not enough for my family in my roll as a mom I just feel like also God is telling me that He hadn’t give up on me that also gives me straight to keep going.

Hi Nancy, thank you for not giving up on your son. I used to be just like your son. A sassy “normal” kid/teenager at home but barely talked at school. People said I was rude. I was weird. That of course didn’t help. So I overcompensated a lot by being rough and loud to people my age but still couldn’t talk to the teachers. Unfortunately my mum didn’t know what it was and neither did I, not any of my teachers. I went abroad all by myself and was forced to talk to make a living so this is how I got over it. It wasn’t easy and probably kinda risky but it helped me. I never got diagnosed by a doctor cause I only heard of this like 2 years ago. I’ll start studying hopefully soon and hope I can maintain my state of mind right now and not go back to not being able to talk.. I wanted to. I really did. I just couldn’t. Like my brain went into blackout mode. Fingers crossed for your son 🤞

Tomorrow would have been my daughter's 30th birthday. I first heard this song on my way to the funeral home to pick out a casket and this song just hit me...we played this song at my daughter's funeral and every Friday afternoon I play this song as a reminder to not give up. And for those in need, please do not give up---reach out to someone. You are loved, you just may not realize it. Thank you Jason for touching us with this song.

I am so sorry about your daughter. I honestly don't like saying "loss" because I know she is with you everyday . I lost my father and brother a few years apart from one another. I still talk to them. I especially talk to Daddy to help me repair something like he would or when I'm sad because he always wiped my tears away with a handkerchief he carried. I'm honestly not trying to make this about myself. These are my special ways of staying close. I truly believe God sent this beautiful song for you to help you find peace. It's His special gift for you to share with your daughter. I know she is still your Little Girl , sends you little personal signs letting you know she's with you not only on Fridays , everyday. 🙏💓

Wow! My youngest son and his entire 5th grade class sang this at Grandparents day at the school he was attending. Obviously I wasn't there because of it being Grandparents day. My mom filmed the whole thing. There wasn't a dry eye in the entire auditorium or viewing the screen. A beautiful song performed by an amazing group of children. This song helped me through such a terrible time with my husband and I due to alcoholism and illness. I listened to it everyday for a long time. It helped me immensely during that time. This song is magical, it has the characteristic of matching not only with myself but with different chapters of my story. When my mom passed away, I didn't know how to recover or stand tall again. I thought it was impossible for me to be alive one more day on this earth without her by my side. She was the best friend and soulmate I could ever have, and when I heard this song for the first time, it was like hearing my mom speaking to my heart saying "don´t give up" and since then, I have done my best everyday to keep her proud of myself and do on earth everything we plan to do together. @Wandering StarLight Thank you so much. Just found articles, pertaining to ASD and ways to help. Will bring this up to his doctor and schoolboard, as they have both misdiagnosed him and he has been repeatedly suspended from school.Whether they will take it under consideration is another matter.He is on risperdone but it's not really working, it's his 5th medication tried.

@Wandering StarLight I have two autistic children. My daughter is cognitively impaired autistic, my son meets the pda criteria, but pda autism is much more challenging, both on a personal level and dealing with the school board/obtaining services.

Siting here, three years after I first heard this song.... and I can't believe it. I thought, I'm going to dance with her to this song someday. I just added it to our wedding playlist. Sometimes you just know. :)

My story has taken years to share. Years ago my son attempted suicide. Everyday was a struggle to find the strength to push through. He spent 9 days in the hospital. Many days rejecting my visits. Every time i got in the car to drive to the hospital, I would listen to this song. The lyrics were our story, as if it was written for us. Due to hospital restrictions, I could not play the song for him until he was released. I wrote the lyrics to share with him. Hoping he would hear the same message I had interrupted. Since that moment in time, it has become our song. I can't express the impact this song has made in our lives. Forever grateful. ❤❤

I'm here so that I can feel again that I have to fight, because now it seems that we are having a hard time communicating, especially since we have a problem with each other. In four years, we have only just experienced this, so I am here to have hope again and to fight for what we have
