That last point Whitlock made in this segment is 100% spot on re most Black celebrities...when preferential treatment is normalized, equal treatment is considered discrimination and racist. There's an unwritten rule Whitlock isn't abiding by: never criticize or make another Black man look foolish in front of White folks. But it's actually Stephen A. This happened one week after the Katt Williams interview on Club Shay Shay which has exploded to almost 50 million views. Stephen A was paying attention and attempted to deliver a "scorched earth" performance but it wasn't properly executed. Mainly because he never contradicted what Whitlock was alleging. Did he play 1 game or 9? If he had just provided the proof to Whitlock's claims then he would've won the argument. Curse words included.

There are a few ways to handle criticism and come out looking OK. If the criticism is legit, the best thing to do is to fess up and apologize - but calmly and coolly, not with a lot of emotional, apologetic nonsense. If the criticism is not legit, the best thing is to ignore it completely, the second best is to brush it off in as few words as necessary, and the third best is to calmly rebut every factual accusation calmly and methodically. In all of these, it's crucial not to get emotional and not to attack the accuser personally - to not show you've been wounded. When you attack your accuser personally, you look bad worse even if you've effectively handled the accusation. If you attack the accuser but don't even address the accusation, you look guilty, cornered, wounded, and immature. Everybody knows Smith likes to tell tall tales - exaggeration is part of his schtick. He could have chosen to lean into that and say, "hey, I try to give people a good story, you gotta entertain people in this business" and everything would have blown over. My guess is that Smith's ego wouldn't allow him to do that.

Time to self-examine your entire existence if you’re working so hard to combat every SAS hater online. Let’s try to make the point this way: let’s say hypothetically you are not a homosexual. Someone comes up to you and says you’re gay. If you’re not gay, you just say no or hell no maybe and end of discussion. However, if what they said has some truth to it, one will likely carry on trying to “prove” they are not. If I said you’re homo for juggling his basketballs on your face every morning, and you weren’t, would you spend AN ENTIRE HOUR telling me you’re not while calling me names?? C’mon now, you know that sounds crazy right?! You know you wouldn’t do that. So why did he?? Just speak your piece in retort for even five mins if you have a talk show, ok fine, but then move on like it doesn’t touch a nerve of truth deep within you are denying (and may not even know you are.) Unless it did, and you’re ruled by emotion, then all that feminine energy you trying to hide and mask with the overly macho bravado HAS to start squirting out

Example: Smith states he played just one game of college basketball yet the record shows he "averaged" 1.5 points per game - which is impossible. Whitlock found the RECEIPTS - the records - and Smith had LIED: he played 9 games. And had a sorry-@ssed 1.5 ppg. Smith IGNORES the facts (of his LIES), just calls Whitlock names.

How do we contact ESPN to get Stephen A Smith (S ASs) canceled? I've tried for years without sucess. The clips you shared only showed part of his hatred toward being "found out". Cheers to Jason for doing his homework and being honest in his review of the facts!! Steven A Smith is despicable and encourages racism and division. Thank you Megyn for sharing this; as I wouldn't have seen this otherwise. (S ASs) was suspended from his ESPN morning show for only a week after his appalling comments towards the Raven's running back at the first of Jan 2024. And he has never apologized to BYU for the multiple times, during multiple ESPN broadcasts in 2022, when he referred to the entire school, community, and religion as begin racists - after believing and championing the lies of the Duke Volleyball player who claimed that a racial slur was shouted at her in a gym of over 5,500 cheering spectators. THAT NEVER happened. None of her team mates heard it, none of the refs or line judges heard it, none of the fans heard it; and the section she pointed to, which she claims the slur came from, contained most of the BYU Basketball Team - of whom some are black. No one heard it because IT DID NOT HAPPEN. But that didn't deter (S ASs) from his abhorrent tirade - second only to his tirade towards Jason. Sickening. I change the channel from ESPN if (S ASs) is a guest on one of the programs I watch. How do we get this racist clown canceled?

The crux of the allegations: SAS college stats say he played 9 games and averaged 1.5 points per game. Yet JW pulls up old ESPN footage where SAS backpeddles and claims he only played 1 game, busted both kneecaps in half, and had a 6 inch screw installed in his kneecap with his momma by his bedside. Both can't be true so Jason pointed this out and started asking "what else isn't true?" and this has led him smack dab into the venom of the kool kids klub of sports media fiction industry. The prime point being made by Jason..."Is this clown being groomed for entry into politics" because it sure looks that way.

Sad thing is Whitlock doesn't give a shit what color your skin is but they make it out to be some attack on black people. Last I checked we're all the same and should treat each other equally. But that's not what they want. My kids don't care what color someone is and don't give preferential treatment one way or the other so why is it that some adults want to treat people differently based on what they look like? They're conditioned to focus on what separates us rather than what unites us. Time to grow up y'all.

I'm one of the rare people that likes both Stephen A Smith & Jason Whitlock. I've followed both since they worked for the Philadelphia Inquirer & Kansas City Star respectively. I also love hearing both sides of the spectrum which I feel they represent. Having said that I cringed when watching Stephen A's response to Whitlock because I felt it was unnecessary. He never addressed the claims Whitlock made about his college basketball career and instead resorted to name calling. Jason Whitlock to his credit has never deviated from his decorum when criticizing Stephen A and has always been even-keeled. I wish Stephen A had responded in the same fashion while also addressing Whitlock's claims. Anybody can curse and belittle someone but it's very easy to debunk a lie with proof unless there is no proof that a lie is a lie and is in fact the truth. If he's going to give Whitlock attention and challenge him then he needed to respond with facts to disprove the claims made against his collegiate career. Or just not said anything at all

While I don’t disagree and logically the statement holds true, the problem with discussions about equality is that we often overlook the crucial element of CONTEXT. Without intending to belabor the point, consider this: treating a 3-year-old and a 17-year-old identically may be logically sound, but disregarding the context of their ages inherently favors one over the other. This principle can be extended to discussions about sex/gender, professions, race (a frequent topic in America), and other human categorizations. This is where I find Jason’s approach occasionally borders on satire.

People are missing the whole point, not everyone but a vast majority of people that are taking sides here. This isn't about who you like more or what your opinion of Whitlock or Smith is, it's about 1 journalist reading the autobiography of another journalist, finding what he wrote as being far fetched, then checking to see if it's true. After his findings, he called the journalist out and asked questions about the validity of a specific part of his book. This isnt about them not liking each other or anything that happened 10 years ago, it's about a very popular TV personality that may or may not be hiding something, and why? Why wouldn't SAS just say, yeah I exaggerated a few details to make the book fun. Instead, he's been parading around, bragging about his college career, how great he was at basketball, making tons of money on his "memoir" and there's not 1 shred of evidence to show any of his college athletic career is even legit. If you don't care then it shouldn't bother you, but if you're a fan of SAS, don't you wanna know why he would lie about those little things? And if he's not lying, then maybe there's a reasonable explanation, but whether it was Jason Whitlock or Joe Smith who looked into it, it's an interesting story.

I'm not a fan of neither.. but Jason is right, other than the NBA Stephen A doesn't know jack about sports and is basically stealing money from ESPN with that ridiculous contract, and the fact that he didn't dispute anything Jason said about his autobiography is telling.

"Kevin Durant was playing with brothers who could score, but now he's playing with brothers who can get buckets" A quote from Stephan A which to be clear, he's never actually said as far as I know, but still is a quote that we could all very easily imagine him saying. He's far from a basketball expert either.

I’ve watched Stephen A’s various sports shows over the years, he suffers from poor character. I can’t believe he invoked his pastor. If I were his pastor, I would revoke his membership in the church

He probably lied about that part, but even if he didn't, I wouldn't be surprised. A lot of pastors are Democrats, when Democrats are openly hostile towards God and Christianity. Society is rife with fraudulent people nowadays.

The fact that he res ponded in such a way shows that Whitlock hit a nerve: the truth. Smith has always been a charlatan.
