2:18 the word "KLON" is indeed written on the pedal, it's on the baseplate.

Another origin story is that the creator Bill Finnegan had a particular venue that he played where he could crank his Fender Twin Reverb up to six, which he found was his ideal sound, just on that tasty edge of break-up. However, in other venues he could only play at like two and a half... three tops. His mission was to be able to always have that "six" sound on tap. That's why created the Klon (with the help of an MIT graduate) and it took him like, two years or something. Perhaps disappointingly for some fans of the pedal, I use a cheap Klon Klone (Nu-X Horseman) as an "always on" clean boost when I play live. I know that Josh Scott doesn't get why people do that (and it seems that you may do too), but I found a sweet spot treble-wise that tightens up my sound perfectly and I love it. Also, I'm not a great fan of the overdriven Klon sound I find it a bit muddy, but that's probably just me and my musical style. For transparent overdrives, I prefer the Boss Blues Driver and JHS Morning Glory/Bluesbreaker sounds. Nonetheless, another fine video. Keep the content coming, it's always great. Cheers.

G'day Jason, I've got a few Klon clones, from cheap-cheap to reasonably priced. I wanted a pedal that performs like the original, but knew that I just can't justify the price of the Centaur. If the KTR is made available, I would consider buying one. I still don't think that I can hear the difference between a good clone & the KTR, but I would want to support Mr Finnegan's work. The KTR produced some very nuanced sounds with the variety of rigs on which you demonstrated.

I find that these are stiff and revealing to play after you're used to more compressed or saggy feeling overdrives, but hearing someone else properly play one of these into a fender deluxe reverb was a head turning moment- probably a 1 out of 5 times I've literally whipped my head around wondering what on earth was that sound? They sound best to me clean but I agree I feel ridiculous using one for that when you can use an EQ or the EP booster.. (though that inverts phase and other weird stuff, I love it). I'm not a huge fan of buffers generally, no more than you need.
