I walk around the atmospheric streets of Hoi An at night, with a spectacular range of lanterns on display for 2018's Mid-Autumn Festival. I also try some of the food that Hoi An has to offer, visiting the Cho Hoi An market.

I've been to 35 different countries and Vietnam was my favourite destinations and Hoi An is my favourite town within Vietnam. The 2nd time I visited I spent 3 weeks in the town to really get to know it. You can live like a king for a few pounds. Fresh beer costs 20p!!!! It's a local brew and hits the spot on a hot day. The beach is pretty nice and only a 20 minute bike ride. I can't wait to go back one day.

I am vietnamese and live in vietnam. Me and my class(I go to a german school so not everyone speaks vietnamese) went on a class trip to hoi an for 4 days, it was so beautiful and everyone was very friendly. There was this one cafe as well as a workshop that was meant for people with disabilities. They had workshops on how to make your own lantern and everyone there was so friendly. The owners of the workshop also ran a cafe where deaf people worked at, the entire place was very quiet, they gave you these booklets and a pencil to mark what you wanted, you could also get tiny wooden blocks with phrases like thank you. The tea and cafe was amazing, all of it they grew on a farm also run by the owners, it really opened our eyes.

Actually, Hoi An is known as "The Lantern City"; lantern workshops here produce most of the silk and bamboo lanterns that you can see in Vietnam, and even export some to other countries. Lantern is one of the symbols of Hoi An, and a common souvenir for visitors to bring home (since most of lanterns in Hoi An are fold-able like umbrellas). Therefore, you can see the town full of hanging and floating lanterns at anytime you visit it. However, it's true that during Tet holidays and the mid-autumn festival, there are more lanterns around, during these times people also replace old ones with new and better decorated ones.

Love the way the Vietnamese retain their ancient and interesting culture and architecture whilst successfully embracing the new world. Thought your video captured the unique vibe of Hoi An. Cheers!

now I'm here, in the times of the pest (Corona Virus) and I'm glad to be here! it's more beautiful than ever, because there is still the TET decorations and flowers everywhere, there are less people in the town, and it is very relaxed. same hotel as 2 years ago, it's a dream place. when it comes to Old Towns there are two I love over all: Hoi An and Luang Prabang in Laos.

Thank you Jason for your video on Hoi An! Really enjoyed watching and seeing all the interesting sights. I like how you walk with the camera pointed away from yourself; that way I feel like I am looking with my own eyes as you go forward. Thank you for showing so many beautiful and colorful sights and for all the information you are sharing. I usually watch your videos two or three times to enjoy seeing the sights again and hearing your observations. Thank you for sharing your adventures! Thumbs up!

When you get to Saigon Jason take the Boat to Vungtau. It is a great ride down the river out to the ocean. Lots of things to do in Vungtau. Go to the Light House, Jesus Statue, see all the Fishing Boats on Front Beach where the Boat from Saigon docks. Go to Back Beach and have a walk & a swim. If you would like more of what to do just ask. Have A Great Time Jason!!!

We just love watching all your videos especially this one. This is the Best video of Hoi An I've ever watched , trust me I've watched so many others in my days, but really yours the best so far ! Honestly, yours also really always packed with all the excitement and interesting contents I would say , just a little misinformed historically , Philippine , definitely was not involved in vietnam trading back then, reportedly, only Japan, China , France . Sorry no pressure here. GOOD LUCK TO U!! PLEASE, keep them spectacular videos coming . I am totally addicted and anxious to to see more and more . Until then take good care of yourself.LOVE from all of us😄💞😃💖

Actually, tax document during 17th and 18th centuries of Vietnam listed trading ships come to Hoi An from countries like Spain, Portugal, Dutch, England, France, China, Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore... and also Manila (at the time was a Spanish colony). Some archaeology artifacts from the Sa Huynh period (around the 1st century AD) have been found near Hoi An town, they share similar style with the ones found in the Philippines, showed that there was some sorts of trading or culture exchange back then.

For the most part, yes, as I’m vlogging a lot of the time so it’s easier for me to get things done. Sometimes I jump in and hang out with other travellers and locals that I make friends with, but it’s easier to film and edit my videos when I’m solo, plus I find it therapeutic to soak in a place alone. I’m more open to new experiences and talking to locals that way. Sometimes it is fun to team up, and if I’m taking a break from vlogging then I’ll happily travel somewhere with my girlfriend or friends.
