Excellent recap. I took a group of scouts to Philmont in 2017-many of the same things y’all thought about were the same things we faced. It’s all about getting there-having fun-and getting home. This is a great review for anyone going out into the wilderness. The best equipment is what you can afford and work within your knowledge and equipment and have a great time away from the world

i really enjoyed your videos that ive seen. thanks guys! i nailed down a date for the WABDR and im going soon... no one can (wants to) go with me this time, im doing the first half solo i guess. all my off-road pals are too old to sleep on the ground etc...i was the youngest one in our bunch and now i am about to step into geezerdom myself in a couple of years. to be fair, most of my off-road adventures have been rock crawling over the past two and a half decades. now i am wanting to camp and explore. i have a new vehicle for this purpose JT-DR (keeping my old jeep too) and i am very excited to meet like minded individuals who wanna do the same kind of stuff. i love the layed back, goofy friendship you guys have, im going to get there again!

@@JasonExplainsThings I forget the channel's name, but the 2 brothers in Oregon with 5th Gen 4Runners compared getting through obstacles with & without a front locker and using A-TRAC. There was maybe one obstacle that made it easier but the 5th Gen 4Runner traction control system did exceptionally well.

EMP? Probably not as likely as a CME event which could disrupt satcoms. But give it time.

Also remember. GMRS is illegal to use without a LICENSE! It’s super cheap ($35) to get, lasts several years (10), covers your immediate family and has very few but easy to follow rules. Please remember that promotion of illegal use of products can get you into trouble with the FCC too. Please visit the FCC or even Midland (the radios being discussed in this video) to find out more. Personally, With the popularity of the BDR I wouldn’t be surprised if the FCC started allowing rangers to report illegal use soon. Particularly in the west coast.

😂 wow. But yeah if you watch my older radio videos I talk about getting a GMRS license… and I’ve had mine since 2021.

Not a bad idea. I'm still figuring that out. On the WABDR trip it was a good old fashioned "camping shower" with dude wipes each morning. :-)

Guys, you had mentioned Chumstick in some of your videos and didn’t know how the name originated. Chumstick is a name of a Native American Tribe from this area

I'm new to getting into Overlanding but have always enjoyed backpacking and normal camping including some dispersed camping. Mostly what I'm lacking is a friend or group of similar minded people to go on these trips with and have fun out in the wilderness! I'd end up going alone or at best in one vehicle with a friend tagging along. Any tips for finding small groups open to having people join them?

Yeah good question. I know there are regional Facebook groups and forums. If there’s a local 4x4 shop you can ask them as well.

Send it Bend it Mend it is coming to WABDR summer 2024 on a 2023 Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer, on street tires. Pin it and win it, let's go! I'll be prepping to motocamp as my overland setup. I'll take up the front and scout at a faster pace, lol. Let's go, Gents!

We live 5 miles SW of Cashmere, WA. We’re very new to overlanding with our 23 Tacoma TRD Off Road. We’re wanting to make the trip from Wenatchee to Ellensburg. Ellensburg to the West Side of Washington. The trip from Cashmere to Chelan. But we can’t find what roads we’re supposed to take other than the typical I-90 route. What roads do we take to get to these places staying off the paved roads?
