I made another walking stick build, but this one has a citrine crystal embedded into the top just behind the wood spirit carving. Also included is a paracord handle and added some wood burning details into the walking stick. The wood was very light in color so it was finished with a dark walnut Danish oil and added 3 coats of polyurethane finish. Hope you enjoy the process and let me know in the comment section what you thought of the carving.
Thanks for watching.

So far the best video I've seen. Thorough step by step, easily understood discription, of how to work on each part of the stick. I was hoping to find such a video as this, but almost quit looking. This was great - very helpful. Thanks for talking like an adult without endless time spent (wasted) on obvious things. Refreshing.

@@JasonHedrich loved the crystal. I’m just starting to get into this and as someone who already loves crystals I am definitely going to experiment with this. What sort of adhesive did you use to attach it?
@JasonHedrich
@JasonHedrich 2 жыл бұрын
@@robertblackmore703 yes, it was a challenge as it was such an irregular shape but I took my time and eventually made the wood conform to the shape. I used 5minute epoxy and it has held up great. With all the edges and faces, there was plenty of surface area to hold it all together.

Thank you very much. I started with just a carving knife, one chisel and a hand saw. The spokeshave really helps to shape the stick, and those you can get used or from a big box stores. Hope that helps

Thanks for the comments! Not sure on the wood… I find them already down in the forest, usually no bark or leaves left so I can’t tell what type it is… this one was very light wood, which is why I decided to stain it. Fun build overall and the client was happy so that’s what counts.

I’ll make note for next time. The glue up wasn’t all that complex… seeing I took the time to match the wood to the crystals shape, I just applied 2part epoxy and held the crystal in place with tape until it dried. I’ve seen some attached with thin copper wire as well, those look good too… maybe the next one. Thanks for watching

@JasonHedrich
@JasonHedrich 3 жыл бұрын
Rex Carr, I think you are referring to a Dremel? If so, to start, you can go with any rotary tool and see if it works for you. The Dremel 4000 is a great tool for around $120CAN and can definately get you into the thick of it. If, and when you want to upgrade, FOREDOM has some beautiful, high end tools with more power but will set you back a little bit more in cash.
