Deep diving crankbait trolling tactics for walleye on Lake Sakakawea in western North Dakota. Classic mid to late summer walleye pattern that is prominent on many fisheries.
Targeting deep walleyes that often suspend off sharp breaking structure. On this particular Missouri River Reservoir, the walleyes are relating to baitfish like rainbow smelt.
Trolling big deep diving crankbaits like the Salmo Freediver 12 on 10 lb. Fireline. Using planer boards to spread out multiple lines. The Salmo Freediver 12 has an incredible dive curve and action, reaching nearly fifty feet deep on straight braid. In this video, we are trolling the Freedivers at 130 feet back to run in 30 feet of water.

Jason, how do you like the Stealth rod holders on your boat? Kicking around the idea of some for my boat.

Chris Volk I like them a lot but the bands inside that lock the rod down are all breaking. Been using mine for about two or three summers.

NO SNAP WEIGHTS??
@JasonMitchellOutdoors
@JasonMitchellOutdoors 11 ай бұрын
We do use snap weights quite a bit at times. Like to use snap weights when using smaller cranks on structure or if I am following a tighter contour and want to stack lines behind the boat where I often run a few snap weights out the side and long line or run lead core out the back. I don’t like to run snap weights behind planer boards unless I have to as it is much harder to read a board if I am dragging debris or a small fish.

I ASKED ON ANOTHER SITE ABOUT THE PRECISION TROLLING APP WHAT YOU GET FOR A LIFETIME SUBSCRIPTION I NEVER GOT AN ANSWER!!
@JasonMitchellOutdoors
@JasonMitchellOutdoors 11 ай бұрын
I have a lifetime subscription. You get a subscription to the trolling app which shows the running depths of most lures and you get the subscription for life. Over time, new lures get added. A great investment to have on your phone to refer to if you do a lot of trolling.
