18 year old Fernando gives me an awesome shoe shine. He said he has been working as a shoe shiner for 5 years, since 13 years old. The setting of this video is on the street in beautiful downtown Mexico City. He used washed my brown leather shoes, used brown shoe polish, and even a flame to make them perfect.

The kid is really good for being just 18 years old. I've had shoe shines before and it's very relaxing in some ways, almost feels like a light foot massage too. And my shoes looked so much better.

This is like going to the barber shop, it is so relaxing. I was born in Panama so we had to clean our shoes to go to school twice a week. The lighter trick is amazing.

I always remember getting off the subway in NYC with my dad when I was little and seeing shoe shine stands. I always wanted to watch them work. I’m glad you’re showing these. It’s relaxing and I like seeing things get cleaned. The guy worked hard and your shoes look excellent. Well worth the money.

I remember having to shine shoes when I was in the Canadian Cadets. Fun times be had, shining boots for an entire day until you could see how many fingers you were holding up in the reflection. Wouldn’t do it again but it did give a sense of self-accomplishment after and was quite rewarding.
