Jatin Das born 2nd December 1941, Mayurbhanj, Orissa, a contemporary artist living in Delhi, painting for 55 years.
Studied at Sir J J School of Art, Bombay.
He paints oil, acrylic, watercolour, ink and conte.
As a print maker with many editions of etchings, dry point, lithograph, serigraphs.
Held over 68 one-man exhibitions both in India and abroad, participated in numerous national and international shows and artist camps.
Conferred Padma Bhushan, India’s highest civilian award by President of India, 2012.
His works have been part of several public and private collections in India and abroad.
Most notably, he created a 7’x68’ft mural at the Parliament of India, titled Mohenjodaro to Mahatma Gandhi, inaugurated by then Prime Minister, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Lectured extensively at innumerable art and architectural colleges and museums on contemporary and traditional art forms, in India and abroad.
Advisor to many government and private art and cultural bodies.
In addition to charitable donations locally and internationally, the artist actively led relief and rehabilitation work of a village in Orissa after the super cyclone in 1999.
