I think that’s because we actually have backstory for Vegas and can feel compassion for him. Where we are so far with Ming, we don’t honestly know much about him. So all of his actions just make him look like a jerk.

No, there’s no misunderstanding here whatsoever, the decisions he made does not take away the fact that there are consequences for his actions. We all know he “loves” Joe and hasn’t fully realized or disconnected that from Tong. And yes he’s jealous of Sol and lovesick from his unrequited love. But that in no way excuses his actions. He deserves all the hate he’s getting right now. Just like any other character would in his place. Just like if a real person pulled that crap! Police would be called if this wasn’t a drama and someone did the same thing. Would you be so sympathetic if it happened to you or a loved one? Ming committed kidnapping and assault, you cannot sugar coat that with ‘well yeah but he was really upset about Joe going missing.’ Who wouldn’t miss their favorite toy disappearing? And up to this point in the story we’ve seen practically nothing yet of Ming’s attempt at redemption. So no, there are no misunderstandings. And you shouldn’t romanticize or excuse him. He did and made bad decisions. It can’t just be swept under the rug like no big deal. Now that doesnt mean he can’t redeem himself, like any criminal making amends. And that doesn’t mean you can’t still have compassion for him. But yeah, he deserves to suffer and have hate right now. Forgiveness comes much, much later

I agree with everything you say, except for the part about Ming missing his favorite toy. I think he loved Joe, really loved him as a person. He was just too psycho to express it properly. This relationship is way too toxic, I don't even think that Joe should get together with Ming again, hell I don't think they should have gotten together in the first place even. Joe should have figured out that Ming was a Red flag the moment he called him "just a stand-in ", no one should date anyone who calls out on their insecurities. Just saying that Ming did love Joe, and because of that he has suffered, suffered more than we assume he did.

I think only part of him somewhat loves Joe. Up to this point I feel like it’s more of being obsessed with him. He’s been in a one-sided love for so long that when someone finally shows him romantic affection, he doesn’t know how to accept it. And when he’s threatened with that affection and comfort being taken away, he goes nuts. Throwing basically a temper tantrum because his new toy is leaving. But escalates it majorly. I don’t think it’s really love, but obsession and jealous and being upset he’s about to lose. And I think he won’t ever sort out those feelings until Joe does disappear.But we haven’t seen that part of the show except for about five minutes of it. So it’s too early to just assume anything about him and what he’s gone through to this point.

Ming is still waiting for Joe after 2 years, with an extra bowl of food, would he have done that if Joe was just a toy? If Joe was just that he would have moved on already. Also if Ming is still just throwing a temper tantrum after 2 years, and had no real feelings for Joe what would the meaning of this story even be? We all have our own opinions I guess. Let's just wait and see how the story unfolds..

So he’d again be abandoned, alone, and unloved. So of course he’s going to hold on to the only person that’s shown him affection. That doesn’t make it love. I’m not sure why you say let’s wait and see how the story unfolds. Because it seems pretty obvious we’re going to see Ming’s redemption where he’s figured out what love it and how to express it. Are you expecting something different? I think you missed the part where I mentioned Ming hasn’t figured it out yet and needs that time for Joe to be gone to understand and sort out his feelings. You can’t judge current Ming based on his actions 2 years later when he’s had time to mature. Because current Ming and his “love” of Joe wasn’t ever like that. Ming constantly talked down to him and just used him, like a toy. He wouldn’t be as endearing to him then as we can assume he will be 2 years later waiting at home for him and cooking for him. Because Ming in 2 years it’s easy to say he loves Joe because that’s how you demonstrate love. But current Ming wouldn’t do that. Which is why I say it’s not love. Because everything he did to Joe is not how you treat someone you love, literally verbal and physical abuse. And yes we all have our own opinions about what love is but I hope that’s not how you interpret love ☹️ That is the opposite of love, what he has can have many different names like obsessions, codependency etc, and emotions connected to it but love is not it, and ppl misinterpret those actions as love because we romanticize it. Like awww he kidnapped him because he loves him….no! Now once he sorts through his feelings and grows he can actually have love. But currently none of his actions were based on love, they were jealously, fear, heartbreak, obsession, possessiveness, etc. And Joe is smart enough to know that, which is why he yells at Ming when he leaves that no, Ming doesn’t love him. But we are all guessing and hoping that during these 2 years Ming will realize what his feelings were and fix himself so he can love properly (which is what we saw with him waiting 2 years later). But if that’s how you imagine love we’re just going to have to agree to disagree.

I don’t like to throw the word Toxic around because most ppl really understand what it means. But Ming in this case IS the definition of a toxic person in a relationship. To the point he kidnaps that person. It’s not even a question. He IS toxic. Now that doesn’t mean no one can understand him. (though thus far the writers have not given us much past information about him, except for the fact that he’s rich, which is not a excuse for having toxic behavior and in fact makes it worse because he’s only reason for this behavior is being a rich brat unlike let’s say Vegas-who underwent constant abuse and was raised to be mafia) but just because you know an apple came from a tree doesn’t mean it’s not still an apple. Ming is toxic, but hopefully that will change over the next few eps

That’s because one small, minuscule act of devotion against everything he’s done so far (he literally kidnapped Joe and has treated him like garbage 80% of the time they’re together, and has been using him as a stand-in in the bedroom this whole time) doesn’t amount to much. Ppl will talk about the change in Ming when they ACTUALLY see it. He needs to do much more than just appear waiting in their apartment. That’s not even a drop in the bucket. But he’ll get there over the next few episodes. For now the convo is focused on his outrageous behavior which is understandable because, did you not just see the 90% of the horrible things he did in only one ep to Joe? It’s going to take time

Wow, the bar is on the ground at this point. I guess Ming should be awarded for living in Joe's house after he destroyed Joe's life and rode him off a cliff. Ming is such a stand up guy and a hopeless romantic 😏😒

Probably because Vegas’s behavior was explained. Lots of emotional, mental, and physical abuse from his dad and raised in the mafia life. He was broken and we could see how and why and we could see those small snippets where he tried to have hope. Where Ming is just a spoiled brat 😅 we haven’t really gotten any history on him to explain his behavior besides being born to a rich family. Makes it hard to find compassion and connect. P.S. Vegas is one of my fav characters 🤣 and never did I feel like I needed to slap some sense into him, where Ming I feel like shaking him uncontrollably several times an episode 🤦‍♀️

One toxic person does not equal another toxic person. Just like a happy person does not equal another happy person. I think there’s similar in liking chains. 😏 but they’re nowhere near the same. Vegas had reason for his behavior so far the writers have not explained much about Mings past so at this point he just seems like a spoiled rich brat.

There’s a a major lull in good BL the beginning half of the year. Though if you didn’t watch The Sign you’re missing out because that was super fresh and high quality
