Javier Campos has varnished thousands of guitars during his career using the traditional French Polish system. Undoubtedly one of the most experienced and important shellac varnishers in the world today.
We are lucky that he has agreed to Madera to do an interview with him at his workshop where he explains his important varnishing work in the process of building a traditional guitar.
He gives us all kinds of clues here to appreciate what a well-made, hand-applied French polish with natural materials (not synthetic) is all about from the beginning of the process to the end.

Genial Javi Campos! Pero mis dudas desde que comenzó este canal: - Se llama Madera Guitarras y todos los textos que aparecen en los videos están en inglés 🙄 - Las introducciones y las preguntas siempre en inglés aunque el entrevistado sea andaluz...😅 Mi no entender, pero a pesar de todo buen trabajo!!

Hola Miguel. Muchas Gracias!. Aunque seamos de Granada lo que queremos es que el trabajo tan bonito y especial de hacer guitarras se pueda apreciar en todo el mundo. Por esto en inglés la intro y preguntas.

Gomalaca is in fact not the resin from a tree ,it is produced by the Lac beetles which feed on the resin,they subsequently lay their eggs and encase the eggs with excretion which when dry produces the flakes which are they collected and processed to produce the gomalaca flakes.

Hola. Sí. Lo sé. Intentaba decir que se cosecha en las ramas de los árboles donde la hembra de ese pequeño insecto deposita los huevos y quizás abrevié demasiado. Mis disculpas. Saludos cordiales🙏

Hola Javi,por supuesto estaba seguro que habías abreviado.Puse el comentario como referencia para los que no se pueden imaginar como la naturaleza nos da un producto totalmente orgánico y que ha sobre pasado los siglos sin apena alterar el proceso y técnicas de aplicación…..El trabajo que haces es digno de admiración y no nada fácil…..algun día te llevó una guitarra para que hagas tú magia!..tienes una página web? Sorprendente . Desde el año 93 este señor vive de barnizar guitarras. Mis saludos y mis respetos. Por lo demás, cuenta poco, pero al menos, en castellano.

Pero como que cuenta poco Celedonio... si es oro todo lo que nos cuenta. El probablemente mejor barnizador del mundo contando cómo barniza y cómo se debe hacer un buen barniz.
