The XL4015 power module is a DC to DC step-down (BUCK) power module that operates at a switching frequency of 180kHz. In such high frequency, it provides smaller sized filter components compared with low frequency switching regulators.
This DC-DC switching buck converter is capable of driving a 5A load with excellent line and load regulation. The main switching component is XL4015, an adjustable output version switching regulator. It is an efficient switching regulator and the output efficiency is significantly higher in comparison with the popular boost regulators. At higher input voltages, the regulator operates at a switching frequency of 180kHz, thus allowing the overall board size to be smaller and space-saving. It is a high-power switching module with a toroidal ring inductor.
Features and Specifications
Input voltage: 4 - 38V
Output voltage: 1.25 - 36V (adjustable)
Output current: Maximum output current 5A
Note: The higher the voltage, the load current increases. Try to use it within 4.5A.
Output power: It is recommended to use within 75W
Note: Heat sink required if output power exceeds 50W
Efficiency of this regulator up to 96%
Note: Efficiency is related to input, output voltage, current, and the voltage difference
Load regulation: 0.8%
Voltage regulation: 0.8%
Adjustable potentiometer onboard for output voltage adjustment.
Power LED indicator
Thermal Protection enabled.
Short circuit proportion: limited to 8A.
Dimension: 54*23*18 mm (L*W*H)

I purchased a red XL4015 5A dual pot module and the potentiometers are located a bit differently there. My Li-Ion battery is 3.7V/800mAh. When I set up the output voltage to 4.2 volts with the potentiometer (physically located closest to the voltage input terminals which is in my case 7.5 volts) then measure the output short-circuit current with 10A current range multimeter it is always 2350 mA regardless of the position of the constant current potentiometer (physically located closest to the voltage output terminals which is in my case 4.2 volts). If I connect my Li-Ion battery is 3.7V/800mAh and measure the charging current it is always 50 mA regardless of the position of the constant current potentiometer (physically located closest to the voltage output terminals which is in my case 4.2 volts). Question - how to adjust the constant current potentiometer to make the output current reach the predetermined overcurrent protection value of 800 mA? I have already tried 3 out of 5 modules you sent me -all are the same. You have the blue XL4015 5A single-pot module in this video.

Before you put the battey make sure you already set the current output and to do that is you need to short the positive and negative then measure the current to the desired need of the battery then after that one you can now put the battery and charge.

Will it provides continuous 5 amps output or provides amps depending upon current required. I am planning to use it with raspberrypi-4 with external hdd, will it provides required amps for both?

It depend on the current input sir. Meaning to say if you put an 6 amp input supply the output would always 5 amp constant .

Hi.. I’m not technical person.. I have purchased XL4015 module to increase the input 5v to 12v.. Is it mandatory to change the potentiometer and add diode in the input side..?? Please advise..

dynamic Vignesh yes because the diode will protect your module from wrong polarity. You can use IN4007 diode and Up.

@@JaviersDIY Thank you for the details... and one last question is there any specific reason for replacing the built in potentiometer to external 50k ohm potentiometer... Because in my case, when I tried with default setup (without the diode and external potentiometer) by adjusting the pot it should varies the voltage, but unfortunately it didn’t... my question is if I add the additional changes similar to you, will it be able to achieve my need or is there any damage in the module..!?!?

dynamic Vignesh I change the potentiometer it is because the knob is very small its difficult to turn it thats why I change it.
