I'm from Germany and it's great to see how football (I never will call it soccer 😂) is growing and growing in the united States. When I think about the time like ten to fifteen years ago this league was, I do not want to offend anyone, a joke here in Europe. It was like "yeah if you are at the end of your career let's kick a little bit in the US and get good money". But now you can see the culture is there and grows, the atmosphere in the stadiums every week is great and of course you HAVE to be a good player (especially when you are from Europe) to get in a team and play and not just playing because you are a mediocre player from Europe. And of course every year there are more and more good to top american players you see in the top leagues playing. You are doing really good work over there. I'm really excited what the next ten years will have to offer.

There are no words. Houston is a great team and it is very, very difficult to beat them, especially with captain H. Herrera, who never made a mistake in his passes in the entire 90 minutes. We RSL fans had to hope for a miracle after the first half and it came with a beautiful goal from J. Savarino, and after the match penalties, sorry Houston fans, the heavens were on our side today.

MLS should have 16 teams in each conference, and every team would play twice against all the other teams of its own conference and also face a group of 8 teams once from the other conference. This 8 teams would change on the following season. That would make 38 games. Playoffs spots: 1st vs 8th; 2nd vs 7th; 3rd vs 6th; 4th vs 5th. The top four earn the right of two results: win and draw. Draw advantage and two legs only on the first round - second game at home for the top seed. One off game in all next phases - home game for the highest seed. This would be the perfect format until the league adheres to promotion/relegation (who knows? Some point in the future). You should settle down and focus on developing the league. And stop with this leagues cup nonsense. Instead help to develop the concacaf champions league (regular season defines the spots - alongside with the champion). (And increase salary cap + 4 DP slots)

@@SpoiledMilk321 that's my point... you can tie in "best of X series", it's pretty standard in some other sports. let's say the first game ended by win, then 2nd ended by a tie... So the match score would be 1.5 : 0.5 Then the first team would need a win or a tie to win the match (it would end 2.5 : 0.5 or 2:1 respectively). If the 2nd team won the 3rd game, it would be 1.5 : 1.5 and only then they go to penalties to decide the winner of the match (not of the game itself) who'll advance to the next round. This is pretty normal in some other sports... Like some rapid chess knockout tournaments, players player 4 games against each other (2 with black 2 with white), - if it's already 3:0 or 2.5 : 0.5, the match ends with the clear winner without even playing the 4th game And only id the match is a tie after those 4 games they go to some tie breaks (e.g. 2 games of some faster time format); we can make it analogous with overtimes in other sports, and if it's still a tie after that, they can go to Armageddon (phe player with the black pieces starts with less time on his clock, but only needs a draw in that game to win the match... Players can bid how low are they willing to go with their time to play with black) - that can be analogous to the penalties deciding the match. Even in football in some other leagues they play best of 2 playoffs this way (one match home, one match away, ties are a valid result, penalties only as the match decider if the score is tied after the two matches)

This is the format the rest of the world uses.. playing best 2 out of 3 games is a greedy tactic for MLS to make more money while overplaying the players. With that said, Houston would've won the series with an aggregate of 2 goals vs RSL's 1 goal. Even if RSl would've won 2-1, Houston still would've won because of the away goal... anyways, MLS is still growing but still doing things ass backwards.

Not a 'jaw dropping' free kick. It was actually illegal. How in the world were the attackers allowed to be in the wall like that? Even without that, it's just a free kick which the keeper should have easily covered but was out of position for some reason.

There were only 4 players in the wall, with a break before the 5th Houston player, so all the RSL players at the whistle were the required 1 yard from the wall.

@@johnmcgimpsey1825 The 'break' I think is a gray area at best. The law is just the wall and those two players were certainly creating a wall. That aside, the it has nothing to do with when the whistle is blown. If it were, attackers would just push into the wall after the whistle. Also, one of the attackers who was off to the right ran in front of the wall (clearly within 1 yard) before the kick was taken. That's no different than the defense encroaching prior to the kick and blocking the shot from 5 yards away.

I really really want to watch more MLS games but in my opinion this 2 of 3 game system is absurd, why do we push to make everything about the USA sports playoffs system???? The rest of the world dropped the 2 of 3 games system five decades ago. No to mention the significant toll on players. Come on, play two games and add up all goals, scoring in soccer is difficult enough to be discredited by counting a 1-0 win the same as a 6-0 win.

Are you willing to acknowledge bassi’s studs right to the stomach of palacio being a red card? Had it been contact to the knee he’s probably giving a red card for endangering the safety of the player. Plus yes macmath jumps but he is still on the line. It’s not until after bassi hits it that he is off his line
