Hungarian folk music (Magyar Népzene) includes a broad array of Central European styles, including the recruitment dance verbunkos, the csárdás and nóta. The name Népzene is also used for Hungarian folk music as an umbrella designation of a number of related styles of traditional folk music from Hungary and Hungarian minorities living in modern-day Austria, the, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, central Romania (Transylvania) (Székely), Moldova (Csángó), and Serbia. Hungarian folk music is a prominent part of the national identity and continues to play a major part in Hungarian music.
Traditional Music Channel is for everyone who has a passion for music.
Music is an expression of human creativity. UNESCO reports that among all the performing arts, music is the most universal and is found in every society, most often as an integral part of other performing art forms and other domains of intangible cultural heritage.
Traditional forms of music are considered carriers of cultural heritage because they represent expressions and traditions transferred through generations of a community.
With recordings from more than hundred nations our collection of traditional music offers a staggering diversity of our humanity.

Such wonderful music! It sounds like a mix of Central/Eastern European, Turkic, and Siberian musical traditions, all in one.

These are incredibly-sounding songs! They are great both to study, and to write. It feels as if they were itching your brain. I wish this type of music was more widespread... and, yes, Hungarians always come with some kind of great music. Beautiful...

I wondered why Hutsuls use jaw harp, what is usual for northern peoples. The reason is hungarians use it too. Hungarians are far relatives of northern peoples and neighbours of Hutsuls

It is nice to see that you guys try to make friendly overtures to us Hungarians but no apology can make up for the ramifications of the Ottoman occupation. It has bled out our nation and paved the way to the dismemberment of our country.Any Hungarian saying that we are brothers is either stupid or ignorant.From your perspective, however, it is a completely different story.
@rumelia
@rumelia 7 жыл бұрын
You see, it's not my perspective; it's a perspective which I've gained by interpreting our common history in an unbiased, purely scientific way. Turks and Macars are relatives, it's an historical fact whether you personally like it or not. I or no one else can change that. Not even politicians! Countries fight. They always have and are continuing to do so. Brothers killed/turned on brothers countless times in history. By your logic, Israel and Germany would never be the strong trade partners they are today and this example doesn't even remotely compare Ottoman Turk-Austria-Hungary relations. Which brings us to your true historical foes; Austrian dynasties. Hungarians didn't really get a lot of saying in administration during this era. In fact they were deliberately kept out by Habsburgs. Anyways, read more if you're interested. If you try to get rid of your baseless biases, not only you'll come to see historical facts for what they are, you'll generally become a much more intellectual person. Books by İlber Ortaylı are usually translated to many languages including English. He's a world known historian. I love him not because he's Turkish nor cause he's a great lecturer, but cause he made me love history even more than I did before I've known him. Esenlikler.

Rumelia I completely agree with you, friend. And as a native Hungarian I strongly support your opinion. Although I'd like to point out that the Ottoman invasion has indeed crippled Hungary, it was not to blame on the Ottoman people. You see, Hungary still had troubles after the rather despotic reign of king Matthias, and the commerce, the military were done like hell, not to mention the delicate matter of politics. The Hungarian aristocracy is just that guilty as well. It is recorded that they once pointed out at a council that they didn't want to give more rights to the serfs and poor, not because they hated them, but because then there would have been no one that they could have felt royal against. And of course, they were the first to leave for Transylvania, when the Ottoman army came. But what is more interesting, is what happened before. That the people wanted a newborn child to the throne, and wanted to protect his rule against the greedy Habsburgs. So they asked for help from the sultan, who imagined help somehow else. Well, it happens...And these facts are not only recorded by the Turkish historians, but by Hungarians as well. I may have been a little hasty telling my opinion, and may have not mentioned all the names and details, I think it covers it in a nutshell. Have a good day people, regardless of your nationality!

@ I'm going to learn enough to get my Hungarian citizenship when its time. Hungary is where my 2nd Great Grandfather is born. I'm so proud of my Eastern European blood. Its hard to learn a second language like Hungarian when you are living in the USA but I taught myself some German and French so of course I will learn Hungarian to get my duel citizenship as I deserve. This way I can go to Europe and see the land of my Ancestors and live there even.

@ Thanks, I wish I had time right now to learn it but I am in graduate school and that keeps me TOO busy already. Once I am free of that I can learn it. Right now I have to figure out what documents are required and try to make sure I have those first, its a sticky process. But, I do hope to see Europe and Hungary some day. The only places I have ever seen is France and Germany for a short period of time I worked in Germany and got to see many places of my Ancestors but I did not see the most important places because of closures...and now there is COVID.
