This is the story of one of the oldest motorcycle brands in the world, which started the production of motorcycles in Bohemia in 1899.

Alles weil ein Dresdner Fahrradhändler sich geweigert hat das Rad von , ich glaube Laurin, zu reparieren. Aber gut das es so gekommen ist. Danke für das schöne Video.

The 1st motorcycle was 1864 with the American steam powered Roper. They were the 1st production motorcycles. The 1st internal combustion engined motorcycle was in 1885 with the Oak framed Gottlieb Daimler. 1886 modern safety bicycle invented in France. 1899 Laurent & Klement create 1st mass production internal combustion engined motorcycles.

Nope. I am pretty sure Hilderbanrd and Wolfmuller produced the worlds first production motorcycle between 1894 and 1897. Internal combustion engines of 1500cc. They built steam powered one's before that, but the Motard which went in to production, was internal combustion, and built five years before Laurent & Klement. They also built 2000 of them, or about ten times more than the L&K original run of their 1899 machine.

This manufacturer had a serious love affair with bellcrank linkages. Much mechanical beauty was lost with the invention of the Bowden cable.

I am pretty sure Hilderbanrd and Wolfmuller produced the worlds first production motorcycle between 1894 and 1897. But this is still an amazing machine.

The idea of doing 70+ km/h on what's essentially a fortified bicycle frame with an engine is downright scary. Can you imagine the cornering on those tires? O_o

Hi moto fans! Is there anyone who can explain how the evaporative carburetor worked in this engine?

@M Bacon Thanks for explaining to the best fan!

These suck air through the petrol tank where it picks up a rich mixture. The rest of the parts lean out the mixture the required amount and also control the amount of throttle opening. There's a few operations required to ride this bike. And putting a lid on the fuel tank is required after riding. There are two cylinders with handles on. I guess one with the variable holes on top adjusts the mixture ratio, the other is the throttle opening, hence speed.

@M Bacon yes , there are multitude designs, including one's with wicks. I Googled these fuel tank types, and deduced from the appearance. I am a motorcycle mechanic by trade but never worked on these old bangers. Though I wouldn't mind a ride on one.

Sorry but there was an early, crude motorcycle being ridden in Germany 30 years before that. There's a reproduction of it in the American Motorcyclist Assn's museum.

Why did they not just install a built tensioning system on these clearly beautiful motorcycles…? Something similar to the simple built tensioning system system that was on Harley’s Grey ghost…???
@TVPiles3 жыл бұрын
sorry, but the beginning was the Hildebrandt & Wolfsmueller, the first production motorcycle made from 1894-1897. When the first Laurin & Klement was produced Hildebrandt & Wolfsmueller was already bankrupt.

Very interesting video, but, sorry, Laurin & Klement was not the beginning of motorcycling - that was the Hildebrand & Wolfmüller of 1894, the world's first production motorcycle!
