I love this band and this lp. One day I went to my local punk record store shortly after this was released and saw that they were playing 400 miles away that day. I grabbed my friend and totally made it in time. They were so good. I wish everyday that I could experience that again!

I went to San Francisco in the summer of 1993. I saw that Scream (from DC, that night with Dave Grohl) were playing at the Great American Music Hall. Being a Scream fan, I bought the ticket. The opening band, Jawbreaker, was unknown to me. After entering the venue, at the very moment I was entering the hall (there was like a dark curtain, like in old cinemas, if I remember well), the opening band started playing "The Boat Dreams from the Hill", of course never heard before. I still remember that moment so well, it was like an electroshock: I knew from that moment that the band was great. I saw Jawbreaker two more times during the rest of my vacation in SF and did not stop listening to them since then.

Well, to me it seems they are far away from being perfect, but that is exactly why they are so great - punk ain't perfection - it's rough, crude, coarse and thus imperfect. And that's what I really like!

Do You Still Hate Me? This is such a solid album, not a wasted track or word; in fact, I love it so much that I have it tattooed on my forearm! I was introduced to them when I was sitting at a cafe in Benicia Ca and we were around an outdoor table, talking about bands and things and they asked me if I had ever heard of 24hour Revenge Therapy then I asked“what’s that?” We then went over to one of the friends apt and gave them a listen to and I was blown away by the lyrics and music and have been a big fan ever since. I was roommates with their live sound dude for awhile while living in Benicia.

@@mibi3112 check out Hüsker Dü’s “Hardly Getting Over It” ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rK12as92y5qscn0.html ) and compare it with Jawbreaker’s “Ache” …you’ll see an uncanny similarity, though there are enough differences to set them apart. I love Jawbreaker. I love Hüsker Dü. Both speak to the melody that’s within my heart.

+Brian Elia I grew up on this stuff. I probably saw Jawbreaker live at least 100 times between LA and SF. It is weird and cool to see kids still talking about them after 20 years. I have so much Jawbreaker vinyl just just shoved in a closet somewhere, all bought from shows. I have other 40 year old friends, and they STILL reference this band routinely. They are one of those timeless bands that won't ever die simply because the voice and the sentiments are completely timeless and sincere. It is strange to look at that album cover and realize that it's not even remotely dated, even relevant for 2016. Sincerity never goes out of style.

+Raymond Cogan Well, damn. Quite jealous to say the least. I never got to see them back in the day(94-97). I was in High School and didn't have a car. Bay Area shows were few and far between. I really can't add to anything you said. You summed it up perfectly. Really looking forward to the documentary on the band that's in the works. Hopefully it will come out in the next few years...

Yet Nirvana is the band that rejuvenated rock and roll and whose lead singer is iconic, while as great as Jawbreaker is, all they did was inspire a bunch of emo losers to make music.
