You can save wood by crafting wood blocks instead of frames, downfall there though is you can’t pick them up if you make a mistake. Awesome job though! The cop puke does so much damage to wood, other than demolishers, it’s the biggest obstacle to overcome in this challenge.

A wood block takes 10 wood to craft, a frame takes 2 wood to craft and 8 wood to upgrade. They cost the same unless there is a perk or skill that I'm forgetting about.

@@JaWoodleyou had plenty of wood, so I think 1 base with blocks 3 thick might do the trick, also instead of the thick poles, you can use the really thin ones(like a tight rope) and place the bars a bit apart from each other, they will stumble a lot. And finally saving wood by just placing ladders on 3 sides of the starting pillar and they will all climb without hitting the ladders.

@@JaWoodle They seem to sense where you are on horde night and blind fire at you no matter the block type or thickness since A21. I'm using a base design that I have used in A20 and I'm getting block damage from Cop spit in places that never before got damaged before. Blocks that were fine in cobble now need to be at least concrete. Also I use security gate blocks centered for my narrow zombie walkways, bullets pass through them like bars so you don't self damage them.

My brotha, this is my bread and butta. Try it with maxed out gunslinger, parkour, and run and gun. Then use a desert vulture and an SMG. For a base just dig a 2 deep trench in the shape of a plus sign and line it with ramps. Then all you gotta do is run and gun up and down the trenches, jump out and over if they start to pin you down. I'm on day 300 of a insane nightmare permadeath multiplayer server and have never built a base other than some trenches and ramps/ladders to get on top of something for a quick repair/rebuff break.

Instead of railing, use the balister block. If you place is correctly, some of the zombies just run into it then slide off. The others jump over but it seems to slow down even more than the railing.

Someone here is saying that they vomit at you when in range regardless of whether they can see you now, which is making a lot of sense now because I have electric fences behind 1 block thick walls and they still vomit at it and break it despite the wall supposedly blocking line of sight. I thought maybe plates on the blocks would prevent the penetration of the puke but I think not.

I can’t help but think that a large pyramid might be the best option. Since the cops will spit no matter what, it might work to get them to spit over the base. Plus a block pyramid will help slow them down which is all wood is good for anyway.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, horde nights gone wrong are the most fun this game gets by quite a margin. Luckily for me I'm fuckin terrible so they almost always go wrong

Definitely do again with full blocks. Alsonthere is that limit where you have dumb zombies to increase performance.

Every time a zombie falls it recalculates it's path. Durability of the block it must break to get to you vs distance to a weaker block vs getting to your elevation. In this challenge all blocks are equal so running farther will not bring them to a weaker block. Occasionally they just attack a support block to lower you. Replace the bars you stand behind with a horizontal hatch so they have no blocks in there path. Open the hatch, blocking the path, only in an emergency. Increase the odds of them taking the unobstructed path you built.

Seems like the coppers can see you through the single wood layer, that or perhaps not having a rear to the box was giving you away. Wood vs late hordes was never going to end well though.

Seems to me that they target the wood walls in order to expose the player, same thing was happening in Glock9's attempt. It could also be that they tore down the structures primarily since all of the "base" had the same amount of HP around the player.

28 mins of mayhem, great! Perhaps the single thickness of the wood blocks made you more visible? Perhaps if they had plates on your shooting box or two blocks then a plate, might make them more robust both to vomit and harder for cops to see you?

I think the cops were vomiting from behind you were the base was open. and maybe if you made it 12 blocks high, that way they do not go in destroy anything mode when they are under you

Zombie throttling means there are two zombie AI: one standard and one dumbed down. That’s the theory to why zombies attack random blocks etc. Though silly, I like it because of the unpredictability factor

As of alpha 21 I have noticed all zombies seem to have x-ray vision and it's terrible. Which is to say cops will always spit at you and screamers scream for no reason other than they can. Though I have wondered if this has something to do with the 11 block range. Needs testing.

he didn't say You couldn't build a cheese or AFK base, he said he would like to say that but if You can build a cheese or AFK base out of only one stack of wood then You can do that. Edit: that change to the cop zombies to have them always target the player even when they can't see the player is so annoying part of the failure was the skimping on the base towers only going with 2x3 instead of 3x3, probably should have front loaded the megacrush's lol

TFP had to have changed cops so that they puke with no line of sight to you in A21. I have made bases where there was absolutely no way they could see me and they still puked.

Maybe if you were to set the 3 bases away from each other, they may not be damaged while holding up in one. You were able to survive a bit running around, so if you could make it to another freash base, you may have been able to last the whole night.

TBH for my playstyle A21 is great. As I think cops spitting without LOS is great thing. It makes people to think more, not just upgrading some critical blocks and calling it good.

I swear there has been a change to cop puke. They used to only spit if they had clear line of sight to the player. Now they seem to shoot the walls protecting the player as well.

I was thinking that leaving your back open to cop vomit was going to cause problems, and I was at least partly right. I fully expected some to hit you in the back, not for it to take out your escape route even though I should have.

The 1/2 blocks are the problem with cops, or any non full cube block, as when your character is clip'ed into that block, that block doesn't stop cop sight/vomit :( so you should use full blocks instead of giving yourself a nice big area to stand in :)

You coulda made that if you had put some backup ladders into the towers and utilized that last bits of base you had instead of just running- and had mega crush on your bar.

yeah i was thinking fighting positions to fall back to not three separate hoard bases connected in the middle and redundant ways to get back up to every fighting position but i knew with that base it would be once you are down you are down unless you get lucky I think one ramp up the back for doggos and ladders on the side they will push each other off the top when they get there...they would probably damage or destroy the entry way eventually so a redundancy for that would be needed or you'll just be up top shooting down waiting for them to chop ya down...oh and some distraction poles for them to beat on instead of the base and pillars since there was soo much wood left

@@JaWoodle Still curious why they were going up the 2nd ramps when the doors weren't closed to get to you, shouldn't have seen that as a viable path. But, I do see your point of them not coming after the structures you want them to come after first. Good, simple design though.

I think you may have to build up far enough that cops dont puke at you until they are on your catwalk. Im not sure how high that is. I had a base a little while back 15 off the ground and they still did it.

@21:10 @JaWoodle seems like a good test for jawoodle park? Glock was experiencing the same issue with his hatch hallway base where he was fully enclosed. Maybe its a mistake in the coding for wood blocks?

I have to imagine you'd fair better if you limited cops' line of sight so they don't puke at you until they're right in front of you, which would theoretically allow you to put them down first

Cops could see through half blocks as far back as your apartment base. You need full blocks for cops not to see you

Maybe if you had built them in a line. I think the other bases took damage from zombies trying to get to you in your first base. Maybe when a base died you could bail out and run to the end of another base.

The problem is in a21 cops have xray vision even full blocks do not block their sight. Had a horde night yesterday and the cops were vomitting all over the underside of my base and they were full blocks.

There is definitely something strange and 'fishy' going on with Cop puke and LOS in A21. Either it's bugged or they changed the rules on us :p

Actually, he said go ahead and make a cheese base if you want to. I felt like one could easily make an AFK cheese base with that much wood, but then remembered about cop puke that tore apart his base. So, maybe not so easy.

You may never do this challenge again...but if you do, I'd love to see you change-up how you do redundancy. Not talking about having even more connected bases, but making just two connected bases and doubling or tripling up the blocks. Make the pillars thicker, stairs and runway wider/thicker, and your bunker thicker. If the zombies are adding up the block "cost" to get to you, then having the thinnest spot being the single blocks in front of you might increase their participation in your designs.

It's these challenges that make the the game still playable instead of the current loot for pages to learn update, can't wait to see what the player base would say once the update of fixed armor sets 😂 I'm already out not playing anymore.

Just an observation, perhaps there was tomuch of an opening at the back of the base and if you srunk it down to a doorway you may have seen the Coppers having a less of a go at your bunkers....nit sure that was the issue though.

If the bases were further apart would the zombies damage them before you got there? Also, once you ended up on the ground you could run to the next base.

Have you tried using railings instead of bars? I tried using them and several of the zombies just kind of slid off the walkway instead of trying to jump over the railings.

I forgot who did it but I remember seeing a vid that said cops can see through 1 layer of wood... I think if you had had the third base you coulda done it... maybe with the Crush too, maybe no Spear? I don't know if I saw the spear come out. 3:15 am death was dang close though depending on how you see it...

Perhaps if you had made the three bases as separate buildings far enough apart that the ones you weren't using wouldn't have taken damage. When one fails, you run to the next one and continue from there.

12 blocks away vertical prevents destroy everything mode as well so you may have been able to have the towers last a bit longer if they were taller.... may not have had enough wood for three of them then but maybe two... also cop spit is broken in the A21 and they spit wherever they think you are whether they can see you or not (maybe by design?) if the central pillars were thicker at the top where you stand they may have been able to absorb more cop spit too... I think your design may have worked if it was tweaked just a bit.

Weird that cops were shooting at you when they shouldn't have been able to see you. Maybe some cladding blocks and rear doors could have helped since you had leftover wood.
