The Daily Jaws

2 жыл бұрын

Steven Spielberg’s much-delayed production Jaws was the first studio-planned national wide release, with a TV saturation ad campaign, licensing, and merchandising. It was also the first summer blockbuster, setting a precedent for all other summer blockbusters to follow.

To queue around the block, get ushered into a ram packed cinema, then sit with "surround sound" public reactions to brutal attacks, the odd head popping out of a wrecked hull and the humour ! JAWS Unforgettable cinema

People who were terrified of this & thought it was factual after seeing it went out & started hunting Great White's, i can't exactly recall if Spielberg himself made the documentary but he took part in one exclaiming that sharks don't necessarily go out of their way to attack & attack/jump on boats.

Spielberg regrets the way he portrayed sharks as mindless eating machines because they’re anything but that

I love sharks 🦈 and scuba diving but I loved the movie Jaws as well. People must understand that the shark is portrayed as a character, the monster in this film. The protagonist been Chief Brody wants to keep the community safe and the culprit happened to be a shark. But the monster could have been an octopus or an evil mermaid but the story of Jaws is a chief officer on a mission to save his community. All I’m saying is that we need to be able to separate an animal from a character in the film. This shark in the film was a man eater but that is a story telling method. A similar event happened with Finding Nemo people started releasing all their fish from aquariums into the sea but now it’s damaging the ecosystem because the new dominant species. So all I’m saying is that I’m a shark lover, I’m against shark nets and I have swam with sharks but I also loved the movie Jaws because of its great story well told and the monster happened to be a shark but that shark was a character in the horror film. So as an audience it as our responsibility to understand characters and appreciate the art of storytelling rather than believing a stereotype about people. Remember there are lots of movies about sharks killing people but they do not get nearly as much recognition as Jaws because the story was not told very well

@@robbillington1982I remember going to see Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981 when I was 5! I saw Jaws on Betamax that same year!! I love both films dearly, with Jaws being my favourite film of all time! However, it does explain why I had endless nightmares throughout the 80's!! Lol!! My son is turning 9 and I won't let him see either until he's about 11 or so!! We were on holiday in Donegal and he preferred to play on the sand, he wouldn't go near the water and the mother of a family nearby asked "Is he afraid of the water?" My response was "Absolutely, but just wait until I show him Jaws when he's older!" The mother burst into laughter!!😅😅😅
