Christmas Trains In Cincinnati Union Terminal, Lionel Trains & Vintage Model Trains! Toy Trains Yay!

Christmas trains layout of Cincinnati. Huge model train layout of the city with steam trains, passenger trains, trollies and Thomas And Friends. Includes Lionel trains room and Lego Trains. Some of these toy trains are close to a hundred years old. The first 5 minutes show what Cincinnati looked like in the 1940s. You can see the street cars, the inclined railroads, Cincinnati Music Hall, Cincinnati Union Terminal etc. Then we see the huge train layout in the basement along with vintage toy trains and Lego Trains. Thomas The Tank Engine and Percy make an appearance along with aerial trams and numerous trestles. These trains were filmed at Cincinnati Union Terminal in the history museum. I wanted to film from Tower A but I found out that it is not open and will not be open for the rest of the year at a minimum. Tower A is the room on top of Cincinnati Union Terminal with a great view of the CSX and Norfolk Southern freight yards. I remember my father taking me to a few times visit the train layout in the lobby of the old CG&E (Cincinnati Gas and Electric) building. It was quite special as a kid.I know they handed out free cookies and possibly hot chocolate. Brings back wonderful memories. Thanks Brian and Merry Christmas.

i could tell that was a model of Cinci by some of the buildings, I watched many Reds games on TV in the Johnny Bench Joe Morgan era. They would show the city sometimes. Plus watching a little WKRP helped too LOL

Cincinnati Union Terminal, I read a magazine article from Trains about it. It is now served by Amtrak's triweekly Cardinal. Looked at a map, it used to have around 16 platforms, now it only has one. A true shame. Thanks for going and looking at it.

I love Union Terminal! I can't believe that they almost demolished this building. Well, I guess they demolished the concourse part, but they left the majority of it. I haven't been here since 2012. You go man!

Thanks, Jaw Tooth. I really enjoy your videos, particularly this one. I was born and grew up in Cincinnati so many of these views are memorable. When I was a boy in the 1950s every December my father would take me Downtown to view the model railroad exhibit in the (then) Cincinnati Gas and Electric Co. lobby. Then, we would take in the nativity scene in Lytle Park, followed by some shopping in the big department stores (McAlpin's, Pogue's, Rollman's, Mabley and Carew, and of course, Shillito's to buy Christmas presents for my mom and sister. What wonderful memories they were.

I got to see the Miniature Train Club display that used to be at the Fair Grounds one year when I attended the Street Rod Nationals in Columbus . Being a railroad man I was truly impressed , had a lot of fun and just didn't get to stay longer . Thanks Jaw Tooth , Keep them cards and letters come'n .

That's cool! I remember Nashville Tennessee having a Lionel set up like this complete with Union Station and the fledgling skyline. It had scale replicas of all the early buildings in Nashville.

That is one sweet layout! I like that incline moving the trolleys. IRL that would be a bit too steep, but very nice! The signal towers are excellent. Everything works and is well thought out :)

Manhattan had street cars in lower Manhattan in the turn of the last century for a few years,now I think one is on display in the transit museum,ten thumbs jaw tooth!!

I grew up near the rail road as it went through our town and remember the EMD E-8's and E-9's passing .They were Southern Railway ... I still love em ... Merry Xmas AC ...

I remember going down town to see the trains in the cge lobby before it was duke. Mom took me every year when I was a kid. Went to the terminal last year to see the trains for the first time since I was a child. It was magical

I had to laugh, I'm thinking many years from now we can look back and rewatch videos like this seeing people wearing masks and say, "oh yeah that must be 2020 when we had to wear masks all the time"... That's my only Christmas wish!!! 190 straight,65 curve( of diff.radi.) 21-022 3-072 and the mother of all toy train transformers; a 275watt mult-Control "TRAINmaster" type-ZW. And a 24'×24' open area out building. But I don't have the funds to repair,so sad. I did manage a Lionel under grandpa's tree for my grandkids. Merry Christmas to all and a happy New Year.

This sadly reminds of a local attraction in Shartlesville, PA called Roadside America. It recently closed because the owners were short of cash for maintenance/repairs. The COVID shutdown was the final nail in the coffin.

👍 Excellent model yrain exhibition some of thos Lionel trains had been made here in Hillside NJ. HOWEVER long gone. But Atlas is still in Hillside NJ.🎄

Thank you for this video. these are beautiful plants that you have shown there. if you have a lust and must you can watch videos from the miniatur-wunderland in hamburg. this is the world's largest model railway. Greetings from Berlin/ Germany. Sven........PS: I myself have also rediscovered the model railway. I am in the process of building a USA plant in 1:160 scale. I already have some houses and vehicles but it will take a little while until everything is ready.
