RR Crossing Runner, Car Turns Around For Fast Train, Norfolk Southern Trains Using CSX Tracks + DPUs

New Railroad Crossing To Me On Curve & Dangerous Intersection. Cars Won't Wait For Trains. Norfolk Southern Railroad Trains Use CSX Tracks & Train DPU Action. Listen To The DPU Locomotive Shoving The Rear Of The First Mixed Freight. Train Station Update & First Look At New Sheriff Office. Norfolk Southern And CSX Trains In Hamilton, Ohio, USA.
The first train is at a NS railroad crossing that I have never filmed before. This crossing is on a curve, at a major intersection In the city And right across from where I buy my radios. The view at this crossing is really awesome! There was a nonrailfan who didn't want to wait for the train which turned out to be a great manifest with a DPU on the rear. He missed a good one lol.
While I was at this railroad crossing on Maple Street another train was crossing about a half mile down the road. It was a Norfolk Southern train on CSX tracks. I was able to just barely beat it to a railroad crossing a few miles north on the NS New Castle Sub. The train really started booking when it got to this point. A car turned around when the gates went down. There is no way that they could have saved time by going a different route. The train only took a couple minutes to pass.
Then we see an update on the train station that was moved a little over a year ago. Nothing has changed. We also get a look at a giant sheriff office being constructed by the CSX mainline. This is the Butler County Sheriff Office. There has to be more here than just the sheriff but I don't know.
Next, we see a clear signal followed by a CSX intermodal train. Another huge train.
Then we go to the Maple Street railroad crossing to see another Norfolk Southern mixed freight on the CSX line. Maple Street will be eliminated when the new hotels are built. I also show where the construction zone is.
Don't miss the Live Action Pets and the special slide show that came from the video. We also see a short clip of a 4 locomotive CSX train at the Martin Luther King Jr railroad crossing.

Filming trains is fun, but I gotta admit it is by far the most aggravating hobby! Catching a train in a new location is always satisfying and worth the wait.

I strike out a lot. I drove a few hours to try to film a Louisville & Indiana Railroad train on Saturday. Hours and hours and all I got was a CSX train. At least I got that lol. One time I spent 2 and a half days at Natural Tunnel, Virginia trying to get a train in the light. I found out that most of the coal has dried up. Two trains went by in the night and that was it. Then there was the time in Pennsylvania when I tried to get a street runner. Don't get me started lol

The people who turn around when a train is coming almost never have a real reason. They just think they can't be bothered. Take advantage of it. Wonder where it's going. What's in that tank car? I never noticed that little store before. Slow down and live a little. No reason not to. Thanks so much once again, JT. I say it all the time; you know how to do it.

I was watching trains on this line about this time last year from the crossing before that up to where you are, and I saw a purple and white UP Heritage Locomotive! Never saw it before and haven't seen it since! That was a lucky catch!

We had a shorter intermodal and then a shorter mixed manifest to wind up that portion of the video. They were both good trains, too JT, and I enjoyed them both. I thank you for the video today. Hey Mr. Jawtooth; The old paper mill in downtown Hamilton that you frequently video was the Beckett Paper Co. built in 1848. When it was built, it was the first paper mill west of the Alleghenies.

That is a nice sweeping curve at the Crossing you went to but then you wind up losing more than you'll see. Also it has a rather harsh flange squeal as the cars go around the curve. Thanks for the station update and while all those freights moved quickly the gates that don't go up in a timely fashion pose a safety risk. Drivers will either start going around them or drive at wild speeds to the next Crossing to get around them. Good old Brandy sitting down and using Leverage to win the toy battle

If I saw crossing gates taking so long to go up, I would call the number to report malfunctions, and first use my stopwatch see how long it takes them to go up.
