Finally Fast Trains In Ohio! Watch The CSX Freight Train Knock Down The Signal! Green to red. 1st & 3rd Trains Were So Fast That They Almost Broke The Sound Barrier! Lol, These trains are in Carlisle, Ohio on the CSX mainline between Cincinnati and Toledo. Trains With DPU are the first and second trains while the 3rd train was probably empty but was booking. I was looking for the fastest trains that I could find around Cincinnati and Dayton and this is what I came up with. Soon I will be able to tell you how fast they are going since Mrs Tooth ordered a speed gun for me for my birthday. The first train is a northbound manifest that came out of Queensgate Yard in Cincinnati. The second train is a southbound rock train. Both of these trains have mid train Distributed Power Units aka DPU. The third train is a southbound auto racks train. I am guessing that it was the fastest. How fast do you think these trains were going? Please leave a comment below. These trains call out the signals on 160.230 and there are nearby defect detectors.

Second train was not as fast as first and third. You could see the Auto-racks were empty.
@thomasmackowiak
@thomasmackowiak 2 жыл бұрын
@@JFG95 With the way auto racks are built today to protect the vehicles inside of the auto rack, it is sometimes very hard to tell whether the auto rack is loaded or empty. Some time you have to be looking at the proper angle at one of today's auto auto racks to see through all the metal sheeting in order to tell whether the auto rack is loaded or empty. Or you have to hope that the sun shines through the metal sheeting to figure out whether the auto rack is loaded. I have seem some photos of the totally open auto racks of the 1960s recently. I am amazed at how automobiles were shipped at that time compared to the fully enclosed auto racks of today. I am old enough to remember seeing the 1960s era auto racks in person.

Great catch - those trains had on their afterburners - any faster and the sound barrier would have been broken. Those signals were good to look at - maybe they are not vintage B&O signals or Norfolk and Western types, but any signals are good to see.

Thank you for these beautiful shots of fast trains! It seems to me that the flashing speed of the lights on the leading locomotive is variable, probably set by the conductor. It may well differ between locomotives but there's no reason that it would be adjustable by the train crew.

On the build lists of every engine I've been made aware of , cab circuitry allows only on , off , or alternate flash ( activated manually by the crew or the activation of the horn circuit). Some railroads may vary , but this seems to be the norm .
