@@hayleycochrane9856 I watch Chicago PD every Wed I know Jay is a cop & Will is on Chicago Med they are brothers dear, this is a delete scene that I comment on that was edited out honey where it wasn't showed on Chicago PD it was edited out, and yes if you watch last week episode 2/20/19 they combined all the Chicago Med with Chicago Fire & Chicago PD all episode together meaning some plp from each show work on the other shows, AND YES THEY WERE WORKING TOGETHER CAUSE THEIR DAD DIED ON THIS DELETE SCENE, SO YES, I WOULD STILL LIKE TO SEE MORE SCENES WHERE THEY PUT THE TWO BROTHERS TOGETHER FROM THE TWO DIFFERENT SHOWS!!!

In real life, no one would say “I’m going to work” with no proper explanation right after a family member has died, especially if you just found out that a person was responsible for their deaths. Anyone in Jay’s position would have immediately said “They just ruled the fire an arson. Dad was murdered. I gotta go and find out who did it.” THAT is how this scene should have played out for realism. I don’t know why programs and films do these stupidly unrealistic scenes in order to build up some drama, when the natural way would have built suspense just fine.

Laura Bowman Even if that was a rule, (which I highly doubt it is) you can’t just expect someone to not give basic information like to other family members, especially of those other family members are still mourning. Jay abruptly announcing he’s going to work without an explanation when he and his brother are mourning their father is just unrealistic and pointlessly stupid Hollywood drama buildup.

S V Him abruptly leaving without an explanation would have stressed out his brother as well. You can clearly see in the video that Will starts to get angry at Jay when he suddenly announces he’s going to work and even straight up says “I need you right now”. Either option equals stress, but the walking away without an explanation option would have damaged his relationship with his brother.

Except when you are dealing with grief, everyone responds differently. Speaking from experience, sometimes you just need your space, and you’re not thinking clearly. The idea of having to articulate or explain anything to people, and sometimes even talking to people is overwhelming. I have totally responded like Jay. It’s hard to get out of the little tunnel of shock and grief and think logically. So, while they certainly use things like this to create drama, it is not an entirely fictional response.

The reason why they deleted this is because of the audio quality of the scene. You can hear the footsteps and the crunching of the ash in the whole scene, and in post they couldn’t get rid of it

Personally those sounds add realism to the scene. If you’re walking in a burned out room I don’t expect to hear nothing. It should have sounded noisy and it did. It didn’t interfere with the dialog at all and should have been kept in.

@@gailfirenze3606 unfortunately sometimes things that add realism are still distracting or just don't work. The roaring of a jet overhead would add realism to almost any show, in any major city but it detracts from the overall quality. not interfering with dialog isn't the only potential issue with extraneous noise.

@@JASumna you are probably right but in this instance it worked so well. Realism doesn’t necessarily have to be distracting, it depends on the situation. I remember when Otis went to apologise to the mother for giving the son to the boys father and a train went by, it was loud and he stopped talking but it added realism to the scene.

According to Will, Pat believed that real men go straight to work after high school and don't go to college. Thus, Pat would be a working-class man who sees his son becoming a doctor (an occupation that can lead to potential wealth) as unmanly. However, I would have thought that Pat would have shown slightly more favoritism (but not by much) towards Jay due to him being a cop and therefore working-class. Will also mentioned that Pat was in the army. Jay was in the army (specifically as a Ranger), another reason I would have thought Pat would favor Jay over Will (again, not by much) as one of his two sons would be following in his footsteps. This would also make Pat a hypocrite if he doesn't see enlisting in the military right after high school as going straight to work...unless he was drafted, which would make him not a hypocrite. The last time someone was drafted into the army was in 1973. Jay said that Pat was in his sixties when he died in 2017, placing his birthyear somewhere from 1948 to 1957. For Pat to have been drafted, he would have to be age 18 by 1973, meaning he could not have been born any later than 1955 (meaning he was 62 to 69 when he died).

Yes Will and Jay are brothers, Jay is the older brother. Another sibling pair from the Chicago shows are Antonio Dawson from PD and his sister Gabby who was on Chicago Fire.

Too bad they didn’t show this scene, they said they couldn’t get rid of the sounds made when they walked through the room. But those sounds make it more realistic because in the aftermath of a fire those sounds would be exactly what you would hear walking over the remnants left after a fire. Too bad it was a great scene.

As a person who’s done sound mixing, I’m surprised they didn’t catch that on set. Sound is the hardest thing to fix in post and the crunching sound would have been obvious during shooting

OrBital VoRtex Jane Doe means unidentified female. John Doe means unidentified male.

OrBital VoRtex it’s a law enforcement and medical term used for unidentifiable male or female they use John Doe and Jane Doe in real life especially if the victim is found with out ID or can’t be identified at the initial scene due to being shot or burned or even in bad accidents. Victims are left as Does until family are notified or identified during an autopsy.

Terry Knight Will is a Dr and Jay is a Detective and was in the Army so in a way are different but they both work in careers to save lives and are young and brash at times on the shows. Jay is the younger brother. We all have differences from a sibling.

I’m sorry but I’m just gonna say it I hate Hayley so much literally I hate no one else more I love Erin so much and I think Jay and Erin was so good together I hate Jay and Hayley together I love Jay but I just can’t stand Hayley I don’t know why

Same, she is super annoying, she is always judging everyone like she is perfect but it’s okay when she screws something. I understand Erin had to leave because of sophia leaving, but seriously bring someone halsted deserves, not a judgy annoying b*tch. I am in season 6 rn but I can’t anymore, I’m gonna stop until the writers cut her or they break up.
