actually scholes is more respected, his technical as well but does no showboating like okacha, that said okacha can't play like scholes, ie dictating the game with a few touches and carry the play forward, okacha is a dribbler but his passing and playmaking is very questionable, a lot of hollywood passes and unable to do layered play/moves involving whole team. He suited for a weak team where he's the sole point of retaining possession, as everyone' else would just squander the ball asap
@Seansaighdeoir
@Seansaighdeoir 10 ай бұрын
@@johannsebastienbach Scholes was a highly rated player but a good example of the type of player the EPL can deliver. Although he was not on the same level as Okocha in terms of technical ability its a case of comparing apples and oranges. Scholes was also a dirty player at times who hid this behind the myth of him 'not being able to tackle' Okocha never got to play in a team at the level of United in the 90's but that doesn't mean he couldn't. No one with that level of ability could not fit but he played the game a different way. The fact that such a player survived and flourished in the EPL is testament to his ability but I take your point. Its like comparing the Brazilian team of the 70's who played with a love of the game against the most ruthless and functional German team of the 80's and 90's. I know which one I would rather watch.

yeah magic is important, and british futbol players are more physical than actually tecnical which is why the premier league is in big part moved by foregin players, there are parts of the world (and players) that just emphasize more on their tecnical development expression, muscle is good to a certain degree, but if you control the ball with tecnique, you can play until your late 30s like zidane with no need to be strong and still boss the midfield, kevin debruyne being the best plyayer in the prem for the last 4 years is an example, tecnically he is really really good, but you also have the likes of bernardo silva, o other players in other teams, technique wins, really, and british dont empahize it enough which is why, the talent comes from elsewhere, countries, that highlight more technique id say spain, italy germany, franceotherother european countries and south america latin america, wehere you just grow up playing 4 v 4 in the park, with a futsal ball, nutmegging each other and developing technique and mastery for the ball and the game thats what will set you apart the most in my experience, opinion, thanks! for reading and letting me share.

@@fofusko I don't think it was about luck, most coaches don't like this type of football. In top clubs competing for trophies, you simply cant mess around with the ball. I love the guy, but I think that's what hindered him. You know he didn't have the formal football education most, if not all footballers have from childhood, I mean going to an academy, playing under coaches with regimented routines and all. He was a street baller that came into the limelight. Maybe if he had had such education from a young age, he might have been better for it or he might have had everything that made us love him trained out of him. No one knows.

He already played with some of the biggest stars like Romario, Ronaldo, Rivaldo etc. He won the copa america in 1999, three years before signing for PSG. He only played one season (2001- 2002) with Okocha, then took over after winning the world cup. He basically came to replace Jay Jay! People make it seem like Okocha taught Ronaldinho how to play football.

The real difference is that Ronaldinho managed to take the same style and make it more productive on the grandest stages. Both extremely fast but Dinho exploited his speed a lot more. Okocha had a stronger shot but scored less. Okocha was the more involved player in building up as a 10 but dinho had more assists. I’d give it to Ronaldinho for truly mind blowing stuff like his assists with the back, the England free kick and dancing toe poke against Cech. Maybe just lucky to play on a better team, and his absolute peak was only about 3 years.

True talk, to some degree. We, as Nigerians, indeed Africans, we cut down our own players with our mouth. And our own press too. One mistake is enough to condemn, attack, an write off our players. HE IS A TIRED LEGS. WHAT IS HE STILL DOING IN THE NATIONAL TEAM? And such nonsense. Especially those who can hardly differentiate between soccer boots, and the rain boots. We are the enemies of our own players, much more than skin colour, the Oyibo man. God help our boys.

Okocha was a football genius. Ronaldinho even acknowledged to have learnt alot from Okocha when the two played together at PSG in early 2000s. Of course their careers took a different paths because there is always an evil scheme to prevent Africans from rising to high levels and that is why no big club signed Okocha yet he was supremely talented. I expected clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester United etcetera to have signed Okocha but they didnt. Why? Your guess is a s good as mine...
