@@DylanJ138 how do you know he passed away?
@versnellingspookie4 жыл бұрын
@clint sauunders whoops, i knew that actually. My dumb ass just forgot that 'Jim' stood for 'Jimmy', a.k.a Jay. I thought he meant someone else. My bad. Anyway, r.i.p Jay, i just saw his documentary 'better than something' and it once again made me realise how much i miss the dude.

His drumming, shit man. Look at every single song he had. It's so tight. No horseshit.

Try to replicate it, you will fail. The fucked up part is he was always in time. His records were polished.

Most drummers who chose punk had to be in shape, had to keep the ship on course... good examples were Lucky Lehrer, the first Circle Jerks machine. I used to think they sped up the tape, but watch him in Decline of Western Civilization and he really was unreal. Betzger of Jerry's Kids was a jazzy Neil peart who just played 100x faster. Early Butthole Surfers used two standing drummers who sounded like a 4 armed drum monster. Adam and the Ants are known for the tribal beats that really legitimize the Ants and the early lineup. George Hurley of Minutemen, Stephen Morris of Joy Division/New Order... Allen Myers of Devo could hold a tight beat and not lose a nanosecond for 5 minutes or more

Its such a Shame that a young and talented musician like Mr. Jay Reatard passed away at a very young age with so much potential. Rest in peace Jay ;)
@bluestate697 жыл бұрын
its a damn shame. however, he was so prolific that he created more music in 29 years than most people do in 50 to 70 years.

I laugh thinking about certain people hearing this guy’s name and then preparing to make him apologize but then how disappointed they are when they find out he is dead.

Even if he was alive he never would do that

Yep, if he got big just 10 years or so later he’d get hounded for his stage name lol

They still would be disappointed even if he were alive. Jay definitely wouldn’t of been the type to make a Tweet apologizing for some minor shit like his stage name.

I saw the last Reatards "show" and an early Lost Sounds show. They were cool and did an early set on our radio show (it's on here--wbny) then a intense and stand back set that night. Jay liked to party and credit the Oblivians guys for trying to get him to stay alive. Alicia is half of that band that was the first to show his talent. Sucks she never got proper credit

It happened in Toronto and the kid was begging for it I couldnt imagine being at any bands show and jumping up on stage to impress your stupid friends knowing Jay is not going to take it well. Most bands guitarist's or the paid security goons would fuck you up, proper...then word is out your city is "trouble", watch your gear and be ready to throw. Jay was no more violent to the audience than 99,% intense bands would react. I think he's addressing one of those incidents as he gets out on stage. It's not cool, but had to be done

Honestly guys. Check out Doug Hell. He's a lofi guy from Canada. He's fairly fucked in the head but writes the best lofi pop songs you'll ever hear. He just put out an album called "As I Walk Through The Valley Of Life I Will Fear No Good". It could be bookends with Blood Visions.

how exactly do you add the octave loop of that loop at 0:48?? and aswell the looping feedback at the end at 4:40?? How many delays is he using?

Might have some sort of octave pedal and a loop
@MrJoey43978 жыл бұрын

@haikudigital9 жыл бұрын
3:08 How does he do that? What pedal do i need?
@hannsandres9 жыл бұрын
i think is a delay pedal... with a lot of feedback and short delay time it creates that oscillation noise or whatev.. i think
@hannsandres9 жыл бұрын
oh it's the boss delay trick you are correct. a dd 6 or 7. you have to use the loop function. play a note and let go so it will loop it that way. or something
@haikudigital9 жыл бұрын
Yup, I have a dd6 now and figured it out. It's awesome!
