Hey jay!!!! How u been brother? This is an old buddy from around 30 yrs ago!! Jr rogers!! U went with me to my moms apt. In Lexington and she was shocked!!! That always meant the world to me!! I’m not sure if you would remember me but you always treated me with much respect and I will always be grateful!!!

Grew up in Louisville and was a huge Wildcat fan. I loved the Blonde Bomber. One of my all time favorites along with your Kyle.

I went to the rally at Memorial Coliseum after they won it. I was 11. I’ll never forget the goosebumps that I got and how the crowd went nuts when We Are The Champions came on and the team came out. It being a new song and not being played a trillion times kind of helped too. 😂. I only lived in Lexington for about 5 years but my fondest memories of living there was going to basketball games at Rupp Arena.

I lived right across the river in Indiana, was always a fan, even had Jaybird, Kyle, Goose and Rick Robey on my Facebook friend’s’ list on my former account, and several Indiana University players. I suggested them all to become Facebook friends with each other. All of them accepted. Imagine that. I sure do miss those great guys. Nice work Kyle and Jay.

Grew up in nearby Robinson. Best HS basketball player I ever saw. Played against him in Legion baseball, can attest to his skill there as well!

I remember the blonde bomber so well. I was his age, high school class of '76. During that sensational freshman start, Jay was shooting from so far outside that Cawood Ledford had time to scold him on the air before the ball reached the rim -- but the scolds would turn to elation as his shots would swish. "Terrible shot! -- GOOD."

Those were some great years for HS basketball. Lawrenceville and Eldorado were two of the greats.

I can remember Coach Joe B. Hall being asked once by a commentator calling a Kentucky game what Jay Shidler's range was? Coach Hall sheepishly grinned and said, "when he walks out of the dressing room." Coach Hall usually came across as very serious, almost rigid even in interviews, which was why when his humorous side showed up like it did with the comment about Shidler it was awesome to see.
