Hello James; like you, I love a V12 engine. I've been fortunate enough to have owned a number of Mercedes-Benz V12 S Class saloons prior to my retirement; and they really were a cut (or three) above almost anything else. I say "almost" for two reasons. The first being Lexus, V6 or V8, they are so smooth and powerful, due no doubt to Lexus brilliant engine mounts, that you simply don't notice them at all; until you bury your right foot into the carpet! That sheer lack of sensation is, in my opinion, the benchmark of absolute luxury. My second "almost" qualification comes in the form of the Rolls Royce Silver Cloud, the 1956 straight six model which, whilst not being super fast, simply wafts one around in a cocoon of sumptuous leather and pure wool carpeting, with no sensation of anything so oily as an engine even being present, that all one can do is to simply enjoy the glide. Apart from those examples; V12's rule....all the way. Excellent video, as always. Sorry about the rather long comment, but as a petrolhead of distinction, I'm sure you'll understand.

Great vid James. I was at breakfast at our Annual Anglesey trackday last year. We’d spent the 2 days before on track so we were pretty maxed out on car experiences and everyone was busy talking. One of our group had to leave early and started his road car, a Ferrari 812 Superfast with Novitec exhaust outside the hotel cafe. Everyone dropped their knives and forks and turned round🤣

The V12 is the perfect engine. Perfect balance, like any straight 6, and no negative torque, like any 6 cylinder (flywheels store energy during the power cycle and carry it through the negative torque). Because it's made up of two straight 6s, it's balanced at any bank angle. They do definitely need counter weighted crankshafts, but not a big flywheel. A perfect V12 is 496 cu.in, or 8128 cc (two consecutive perfect numbers).

HOLY SHIT POCHER MODEL KITS! I want one but... I'm a little too poor to buy one :')z EDIT: This director's cut, I enjoyed even more than the original. The extra engineering talks are something I always love listening to. Feels like Lawrie did have a hand in the non-automobile related bits here. A well-put eulogy to the best engine configuration ever made. While on the previous video I said my only experience was with Aventador, not long ago I got a chance to poke around the new Purosangue. The guy from Ferrari told me to try starting the engine and give it a rev or two. I could not believe how can an engine with such capacity be so ferocious, yet incredibly smooth. Barely any vibration at all. It is a stunning engine, the Ferrari F140 V12. Will miss it A LOT when it's gone...

Lovely sounding music, yes the V12 . The most best balanced engines are V12 or straight 6 configurations, as BMW themselves used in their advertisements to sell their 6 cylinder cars. What’s been often quoted as the best production engine in the world , a V12, a Jaguar V12 to be precise. Whilst not hyper supercars , like others here, possibly deserved some credit amongst the others here.

There is nothing quite like the V12 engine. It's certainly sad to see it go, but to me, I don't like this new idea of replacing V12s with V8s, V8s just aren't quite there. But the point you made about "Straight 6 are the basis for the V12 because they are balanced and so smooth" just clicked with me, because below the glorious V12, the only engines that truly harmonize with my soul are 6 cilinders. Whether that's a Porsche Flat 6 or a BMW Straight 6, or even the new Ferrari V6, they just make my heart pur with joy like no V8 or V10 ever could. ❤️ Great video JayEmm, thanks for the Director's Cut and Happy Holidays! 🙌🏻

I love a good V12 as much as an EV personally. Internal combustion cars have well and truly lost the performance battle, so it’s important that when manufacturers release a performance ICE’d vehicle, it has drama, because that is something an EV cannot give. I drive rapid EV’s on a daily basis, and a Model S Plaid with the track pack, imo, is the borderline perfect car at the price tag. It will do everything an ICE’d super/hypercar will do, except drama.

What a ridiculously bitter and spiteful comment! How many average wage, working class folk do you know who can offer regular reviews of high end cars? If you want to watch a video about exotic cars, the owners of the cars, whether Jay or anyone else, tend to have a few bob to their name. And so what if he already had good fortune early on in his life? Is that his fault? Is it even something that's worthy of criticism? Your problem isn't with Jay and his personal circumstances. Your problem is with the jealousy YOU have towards his personal circumstances. He doesn't owe you or anyone else a damned thing and not living in a state of communism, he is free to spend whatever he has on whatever he wants.
