One of the few bands that I loved their progression from beginning to present. Started with Screaming for Vengence for me when it came out as Ozzy and Maiden was the hardest I listened to early in High School. Thankfully a roommate clued me into Metallica during the Ride The Lightning era. Then Exodus, me being first to get Megadeth my way, Overkill, Anthrax, etc Circled back to others I missed including DeathAngel, Heathen, Watchtower and so many more.
@billblackstarr59353 жыл бұрын
@@christebo7305 Similar for me. I got turned on to Judas Priest with Screaming For Vengeance, but quickly devoured everything previous, but didn't get to see them live until Turbo. I also got turned onto Metallica right as Ride the Lightning came out from a friend of a friend from the Bay Area, right at the peak of that thrash scene, and got into Slayer, Exodus, Possessed, Exciter, etc. Still a massive Priest fan!

It's also the first song on the album, so the whole album literally starts with this insane drum intro.

Younger bucks probably won't remember this, but Judas Priest, known by many as one of the top 3 metal bands of all time, was HEEEEEEEAAAAAAVVVVVVYYYY. Even for today a lot of their earlier stuff would be considered very heavy metal. Not 'Cookie Monster Metal' like the new stuff. But heavy none-the-less. So when Priest came out with Turbo, which had a bit more of a pop edge to it by comparison, they were criticized. So their next album was balls-droppingly hard. This is the result.

This was released in 1990!! From a band that was part of the first wave of British heavy metal. This was an awesome heavy album from them!!

This is one of the many reasons why Priest are one of the all time greatest metal bands. 🤘🤘🎸🎵

"Mario just got the star button" XD That's one of the funniest reactions i've ever heard. Judas Priest on this album wanted to create a totally new sound for the band and decided to double triple and quadruple the heaviosity. The entire album is some of the most facemelting metal ever recorded! Highly recommend you check out Touch of Evil and Metal Meltdown off this same album as well brother! you'll love it. hahahah and just one drummer!!! The incredible Scott Travis!! This was the first song on his first album with the band.... needless to say it took about a fraction of a second for him to win over the fans XD Also the song itself is about the adrenaline you feel when listening to killer metal. When its fast enough, loud enough, and awesome enough, he melts your face and you feel no pain. Haha the last verse even goes so far as to say that the Painkiller is powerful enough to resurrect the dead and save mankind from the apocalypse. The power of metal \m/

@@dmstewart66 You are right. My bad. Painkiller and Ram it Down seemed like a continuance album to me. Sound and album covers blurred would look like the same thing. Lol. But, you are correct. My excitement of Jamel doing Priest must have overwhelmed me.

I guess I’ll go with the obvious recommendation - Victim of Changes for an earlier Priest song with a different feel.

Best rendition of "Victim of Changes" was recorded at the Seminole Hard Rock Live Arena on the "British Steel" 30th Anniversary Tour in 2010: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gJqUaNZ-zJ7Jc3k.html . Guitarist KK Dowling's best solo ever on this one. I saw the band TWICE on this tour and they were truly on top of their game. Sadly, KK would "retire" from the band after this tour, and Parkinson's would slowly rob guitarist Glenn Tipton of his ability to perform.

@@ronforeman2556 Great version! Just not a big fan of the added vocal effects (age happens). Saw them on the Screaming For Vengeance, Defenders Of The Faith, Fuel For Life (Turbo), Ram It Down & Painkiller tours (with & without Holland on drums). Crap I got old!

Rob Halford and Judas Priest are truly amazing they can be so laid back and mellow like a Pink Floyd song or they can fire it up and blow your mind with the Heavy Ass Riffs.

Three words "Victim of Changes" live or studio. One of their first, and best. About a woman changing, growing away from a man.
