Dear Mr. Leno, I am the Engineer who was tasked by Count Agusta at the end of 1975 to make this into the most powerful and fastest street motorcycle of its time. I spent 4 years in LA completely redesigning this bike, and developing a two-stage turbo, fuel injection, perimeter frame, composite brake rotors, hydropneumatic suspension, etc. Sadly, Count Agusta sold the factory in early 1981. I can send you photos and info if you wish!

Yes I feel very sad that that company as well as some others are not owned by Italians anymore… the designers etc are not Italians anymore. Especially car companies.

I really appreciate how open Jay is with his hobby. Most people would be a lot more private about stuff like this. Showing how he still has magazines and brochures from the 70s is pretty cool.

Growing up in Germany ,I attended the 75 GP in Hockenheim. Talking about sound….. there is NOTHING absolutely NOTHING coming close to Agostini chased by Sheene coming into the Motodrome with that open 4 stroke. It still gives me me chills to this day. Down shifting at 10.000 rpm into the" Sachs curve" 80.000 spectators off their seats.

Thanks Jay, I was always too poor to own any MV but I had the privilege of owning another great Italian bike, a 1976 Laverda 750SF the poor mans version of the track 750SFC. It was love at first listen of that big twin, true Italian music. It was quite advanced for its day. It was designed for 24 hour continuous racing, the front and rear wheels were completely interchangable, so you really only needed to take one spare wheel to the track. Every bearing on the bike was Teflon, no grease necessary ever! I bought it in Belgium and actually had two Belgium police invite me to race along side their big monster Harleys. I also remember that it had a 6 or 8 quart oil sump and a 25 liter gas tank with 5 liters held in reserve. Electric start, no kick start anywhere, if your battery went dead you needed to find a hill to run down and jump on. It boosted an 11:1 compression ratio, so it would just cough and not start on regular gas. Found out many years later that most of the electronics were made by Bosch and many parts from a 1976 Volkswagen would be direct replacements for my bike. I remember it weighed around 385lbs with a full tank of gas, it was no speed demon off the line but after 2nd gear there was damn few cars or motorcycles I couldn't just walk away from. Jay, I wounder if you might have any Laverdas in your collection, and if you do could you do a spot on one of them? Thanks In Advanced for bring back great memories.

I had an mv agusta brutale 910r 08. But thats not why im commenting...im commenting to why jay lenos garage is as popular and awesome as it is now. I think i saw this episode a few years ago, and ive seen dozens of jay garage episodes since. Jay Leno is an person who reminds us of what american talk show hosts use to be not long ago, and his continued popularity now gives me hope that all is not lost with the mainstream current state of affairs

What I remember from the MV is the SOUND! It s special for sure! I watched the World Ch.ship race in Anderstorp in Sweden in -74 and the sound of the MV was something you do not forget. Sadly the MV had a pricetag we just could not deal with in those days.

MV Agusta had left racing in 1974 so I really doubt he was worried about privateers. The drive shaft was installed for better reliability and torque control. The F3 is one of the best modern day sport bikes today built. It's about the artistic look, finish and the passion for motorcycles.

Great bike! I wanted one from the time I first saw it in a magazine, but could not find one to buy. I ended up with a 1978 BMW R100S, then when on a riding vacation in Oregon, I found a 750 S America at a dealership in Portland. At that point I did not have enough money to buy it too, so now it's just a great memory.

I believe that was the Fontana 4 leading shoe drum brake, it looked like it. They were a wonderful brake, and highly sought after by racers in the seventies even when twin discs were available. I actually had one on an old AJS boy racer copy, and the brake drum was worth more than the whole bike.

As Jay and his wife have been together, I don't think she buys that bit for a second! With my wife, it's the difference between "Toys & Tools." She say's "why do you need another toy?" The obvious response being, "Oh no, this is a TOOL" whether it's a new torque wrench, a DeWalt impact driver or whatever. Jay's "Tools" just have a few more zeros on the sales slip!! ;^)
