I'm not a snooker fan but there are times with many sports where you have to admire genius and Ronnie is that. I get goosebumps everytime i watch this. The same when Sir Steve Redgrave won I think his 3rd (of 5) Gold medals dispite having been diagnosed with diabeties. Jane Torvil and Christophers Deans perfect score at the winter Olympics on Valentines Day. Bob Champion winning the Grand national after beating cancer. Makes me burst with British pride.

@jeschinstad

That's not how it works. In all cue sports, you need to see three tactical moves and be aware of the strategic ones, like a ball being pinned to the wall. What you want, is as many chances as possible to solve that problem. The exception is the final coloreds, but you're not thinking about how to play the black when you play the yellow. You're thinking about how to shoot the yellow to best get to the green in a way that allows you to get from green to brown. There's no point in thinking about more than that.

He's one of two GOATS, right now it's a 1a/1b type situation. Ronnie has been in the game a long time now, turning pro very young in the late 80s, took him a while to get his first world championship, and he's battled personal demons in his life that have resulted in patches of inconsistency throughout his career. Some seasons he's unstoppable, others he's a train wreck. 7 World Championships scattered across an almost 4 decade career. His longevity is unmatched though because the genius and talent has never left him. Stephen Hendry, also 7 World titles and just like Ronnie has done it all, in Stephens case he was a child prodigy (sort of, only started at 12 but improved rapidly), and is the youngest ever world champion (21 years old), he won 5 in a row back in the 1990s and dominated the decade. The wheels started to come off in the mid 00s though and his game has left him. He gave it up for some time but has started entering again, he's a shell of his former self, but he's a sleeping giant, if the magic comes back, the snooker world gets one of its legends back. Stephen is now a KZfaqr and pundit though. There's an interview Stephen had with Ronnie on his own channel right here on KZfaq lol. Dunno if you want to react to it or just watch on your own time as this is 42 minutes long, but here it is: m.kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mrCEobV_v9rbk6s.html&pp=ygUpc3RlcGhlbiBoZW5kcnkgY3VlIHRpcHMgcm9ubmllIG8nc3VsbGl2YW4%3D

Ronnie had that cue ball on a string. The man is a genius of snooker. I saw a shot he made on the blue where he was on the blue ball. The blue was on it's spot in the middle and the white was between the blue and one of the middle pockets, so it was a straight shot in. However, he needed to go back down for the next red in the cluster. So, he played a shot no one would even think of, let alone attempt it. He potted the blue straight in and spin the white back towards the other pocket, but made it hit the jaw or the pocket which sent it down to the reds. That was just crazy. Yes he is the GOAT. Undeniably. Some days he is simply unbeatable. Great that you watched this. The only player that will beat that 5m20s is Ronnie :)

@@andywrong3247 147pounds was NOT the price for the highest break, it was the price for a MAXIMUM break, which he got ONTOP of the "highest Break prize money" so your initial comment was almost completely wrong. Ronnie only ONCE denied a maximum because the prize was too low, despite that he still easily has done the most Maximums If you dont know what the hell you are talking of, dont talk at all, it leads to making a fool out of yourself. Besides, an argue with someone who doesnt know about the "Edit-Button" is sensless to me anyways...

@KingJohnson1985 your just being pedantic now highest break turned out tobe 147 which is the maximum break,even though I'm lead to believe 167 is the highest score possible in snooker. I have broken down the prize money max break to highest break.ronnie has deliberately naused games up because he hasn't been happy with the maximum money they offer now,ronnie has made a rod for his own back.before you come back I'm not talking literally in real life ronnie went into his work shop & built his own rod.oh & just incase ronnie didn't have his own workshop I was just summising I'm the one with 8 likes how many likes did you receive. Yeah man, you seem to have got your head around the strategy of this game! It's not just about potting the balls, it's about positioning the white ball for the next shot, thinking 2, 3, 4, 10 balls ahead, to keep the break going!! I can play pool a bit, but if I can hit a target ball at one end of a snooker table from the other (never mind pot it!!) then I consider that a success!! The accuracy and strategy here was outstanding, and he was only young here too!!

Snooker is like chess mixed with golf. Yes, there is a lot of strategic and cerebral elements to it, but you also need an unbelievable amount of of technique to be able to pot balls consistently while keeping close control of the cue ball. It's easy to underestimate how difficult it is, especially as an american who may have only have played pool. The table is pretty much twice as big as the biggest pool tables, which means even relatively easy looking pots could be full table shots in pool. The balls are smaller meaning you have to be more precise to hit the ball straight without unintentionally swerving it. On top of all that, the pockets are much narrower and less forgiving than pool tables, for example in pool you csn often bounce the ball off a cushion close to the pocket and it will still go in, this would never happen in snooker unless you touch inside the "jaws" of the pocket, and even then it's not guaranteed to go in. So yeah, snooker hard, pool easy.
