As another sad note that we are all getting older, I'm 67.Graeme Edge , the drummer, died on 11 November 2021 at his home in Bradenton, Florida of metastatic cancer. He had previously suffered a stroke in 2016. Justin Hayward announced that after Edge's retirement, The Moody Blues no longer existed. We all pass into our Yesterdays.

Justin Hayward's mother must have been kissed by God when he was born. He has kept that exceptional voice that he has had since his teens into his 70s, both in the studio and live, can still put on a great stage performance and looks mighty fine in a way that no man of his age who has never played the part of Han Solo has a right to!!!!

He wrote this when he was 19, recorded it at 20. He’s still belting this out at 74. His voice is amazing. It’s often considered a love song but I’ve always thought it was sad. Justin says it’s both. I heard this when I was 7 when it came out & wondered why is this man crying. This is from a show at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Run out now & by the DVD. You’ll be blown away.

The album from which this was taken (Days of Future Passed) is one of the best ever made. I bought it when it was first released, and I remember playing this in the dark, at night, in my dorm room, when my girlfriend had just broken up with me. It brought me to tears then, and still does well over 50 years later. What songs of today will still be relevant 50 years from now? (Obviously not for me!) Just a masterpiece. This is the concert they did in 2000 in London, England at Royal Albert Hall. Amazon has the DVD if you are interested. The concert is incredible! There's another concert they did in Colorado at Red Rocks out in the open. Another incredible concert. Check them out. This song I heard in the 60s and forgot about it. Then I heard it in 1974 while in my car and I had to pull over and listen to the song in its entirety. I couldn't continue driving. The song instrumentally is a symphonic symphony. The lyrics are heartfelt. Justin wrote the song about a lost love. He poured his heart and soul into the song. All The Moody Blues songs are well composed compositions that are masterpieces for future generations to learn. I took a music course in college, and we analyzed their music extensively. You mentioned their concerts are incredible. They are true showman at the highest level. Thanks for featuring this beautiful piece of music.

Any of their albums you can't go wrong on. They were one of my go-to groups back in the day along with ELO, always such deep lyrics and very spiritual meaning to all of them. Good rabbit hole to get into. Also what is great with them is they have four members who are original to the group, one of them passed away before they got inducted into the HofF (Ray the flute player). There is also a concert online with them at Red Rocks and the symphony in Colorado backing them up, great show. Also having to write this for an orchestra is something else yet again.

My husband said the album this came from is about 1 day. “Tuesday Afternoon” is on it as well. My Dad was born in 1931. He loved: The Moody Blues, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Who, and Led Zepplin. Sadly, he passed away 24 years ago in 1997. Lord only knows what he would’ve liked had he lived longer. Next month would have been his 90th birthday. And I can bet my bottom dollar there would be more bands to add to that list. I had a waaay cool Dad.

One of my faves!!!! Classic! Glad you’re trying the live version! “Justin!!!” Btw, I have the same shirt I got at one of their concerts. It’s almost charcoal grey now 😆🥺

My dad said that he feel asleep at a moody blues concert. They got that type of music that puts you into a trance

They pretty much invented Symphonic Rock with the Days of Future Passed album in 1967. They hung out with the Who and other big acts when they were all coming up in the early Sixties.

A thing of beauty is a joy forever! I wonder if people a hundred years from now will have the same reaction.

I saw MBs at an outdoor amphitheater near Kansas City in the 1980s. A storm was brewing with lightning way behind and beyond the stage. The winds whipped up during the flute solo. Graeme Edge played without blowing into flute. He let the wind blow! Magical! Thanks for sharing your reaction! 💖💖💖

Can you believe Justin Hayward wrote this at the age of 19! What were we all doing at 19? Also his voice has got better over the 50 years since he wrote it. Magnificent. 😁

They were so ahead of their time. Beautiful compositions. Their first US hit "Go Now" is a favorite of mine. Tuesday Afternoon is pretty great too.
