yoooooo. sooooo you guys r f ing insane..... like wtf.... so now I have to learn bleed😬😬😬. At the time of recording this it only had 700 likes it now has like 2.5k!! This is crazy... I'm going to put everything I have into it and if I get it right I'm gonna get it professionally recorded by some friends of mine. Thank u so much for the motivation and I KNOW this will make me a better drummer. Now 1st thing I wanna say is it took Tomas Haake himself 6 months to learn it so I'm aiming for somewhere in that range. In the mean time I will be posting other content and staying regular with the reaction stuff, I'll also add updates of my progress throughout. Gotta re learn the main theme and then start picking away at the other crazy challenging parts. THANK U SO MUCH!!!! Also litter the comment section with drummers you want me to react to and anything you want just to help with the algorithm, also if your not subbed plzzzz do. I'm gonna pump out content and try and make it worth the sub for you. I appreciate this so much. METAL!!!!!!

Hey man congrats on the monetization! And Longstreth is a perfect drummer to mark the occasion. Love how genuine you are in your videos- whether you realize it or not I'm sure it goes a long way towards bringing people back for more reactions. I also love your idea of jazz fundamentals for metal drummers... I haven't practiced regularly in a decade but I'd definitely check those out and maybe even bust out the practice pad! lol

Stumbled on your channel today and have always loved seeing jazz or other disciplines react to metal. I think a song and drumming you would really appreciate would be "And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope by Ne Obliviscaris." Very versatile drumming on that one. Also super excited to see you fully learn Bleed, you got this!!

Glad you checked out J-Lo, and I am glad you enjoy his playing as much as I do haha! This song is actually a pretty chill one. Dude is known for playing headline length shows at basically constantly 240 plus bpm. He often plays songs faster live too, even the ones, that are 250/260is to begin with. Absolute mad man. I mentioned the song Saligia under an earlier video, which is an excellent example, if you plan on re-reacting to a different video of the man. And since you're so stoked about Jamie Saint Merat as well, I still cannot emphasize JSM's work on the song "Everything is Fire", for example, enough. Relapse Records got a video up of that songs drum cam. If you enjoyed this guy before, this'll rock your socks off.

HeyMatt tahnk for another great and cool reaction. I have another request for you after your Death reaction and maybe a reaction to Pete Sandoval the ex drummer of MOrbid Angel. If you like some Poermetal you have to react to the ex-drummer of Blind Guartdian Thomas "Thommen" Stauch. I know there are some drumplaytroughts from some Blind Guardian songs. I think you willenjoy him also. And I can say I enjoy each video from you.

One thing to notice with Longstreth is that he places his hi-hat pedal on the inside of the left kick to get it closer to the snare. It makes a lot of sense especially if you don't play open handed.

I always had a feeling you were from Toronto. I guess we Torontonians know our own. I guess it also means you might meet my old, fat ass if you come out to a metal show or I go to a jazz performance of your's (Sorry, I can't do pop or country gigs... It's just generally not a fun time for me ;) ) If you or your older students are looking to get involved in the Toronto metal scene, I could always talk to the people I know to see if there's any bands looking for a drummer. Off the top of my head, I can think of an established, Toronto based folk metal band currently looking for a drummer. Of course, like jazz, there's no money to be made in metal generally; some people do session work, but they tend to be an exception rather than the rule. Onto Jon... Like others said, this song is rather tame for Origin. You still see what Jon is capable of, though; just not the extremes of what he's really known for. He's really good at blasting at 250 BPM or faster, so you might want to give another one of their songs or his playthroughs a watch. He's 48 years old; met him way back in the day too. Awesome dude. He's one of the earliest drummers really refining the extreme blast beats at high tempos in the early 2000's and Origin are one of the original tech death bands from the time before "tech death" was even a term. His father was a successful jazz drummer from Kansas city named Russ Long and Jon (at least according to his big sister) was playing along to Buddy Rich by age three. He grew up watching his father jam with a plethora of other jazz musicians and was immediately enamored with the idea of being a musician. Had I known you were from TO I would have let you know that just in the last couple of weeks three of the drummers you've reacted to have played here live; Flo Mounier and Gene Hoglan did back to back gigs on Thursday/Friday towards the end of May with Gene playing with Death to All and Flo of course supporting that tour in Cryptopsy. Flo will be back to Toronto in October with Cryptopsy, too! Spencer Prewett was here with Archspire just a couple days ago on Saturday! They sold out the Phoenix Concert Theater! They've come a long way in the last decade from playing basement bars with my buddy/ex-bandmate being the promoter and the Archspire boys crashing at my place afterwards to selling out both The Opera House a year ago and selling out The Phoenix a couple of days ago! I don't think they or me ever though extreme, technical death metal would ever be as popular as it is now, but I'm all for it! Hell, when Archspire was nominated for their second Juno, they were playing a live show in their hometown of Vancouver on the night of the awards. They called the show "Juno Award Losing Party" and, to their surprise after they finished their set, they were notified that they won! Cryptopsy also just won a Juno last year for their 2023 album. After around three decades, it was well deserved! I guess it could only be an underground scene for so long... Either way, glad you checked out Jon and enjoyed his performance!

Hey man! so happy to see there a couple of Canadians watching and thanks for sharing all of this! I've had a couple of comments recently that have been crash courses on metal specifics that I don't think I would learn otherwise. I can't thank u enough! Thats crazy that his dad was a jazz drummer, it makes so much sense at least for this performance because it just so sophisticated from a groove and control stand point. Also I love that hes almost 50 and still totally destroying. (gives me hope that I have a chance to find my voice hahah off to the shed..) Jesus dude all those concerts too, I probably couldn't go if wanted, I'm actually fucking insanely busy with teaching and gigging, I legit don't have a day off and when I do looks like nooowww my dumbass is gonna be shedding bleed FML lol but I'm actually really stoked to learn it, I've always wanted to and I know its gonna make me a better overall musician. Crazy u know all these guys too, if shit settles down I'd love to go see some of this in person its gotta be like the most intense experience. they won a juno!! thats fucking crazy, i love that. Anyway thanks so much man for stopping by and all the info!

Since he's got that Pete Sandoval t-shirt, here's Pete on a video (for a long time, I didn't see much drum cam footage), playing Morbid Angel songs with the now again out of the band bassist / vocalist David Vincent under the I AM MORBID moniker. There's two songs, one short and fast, other one slow and groovy and well, since he's been so influential, it might be worth your time. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aq-FbKSbmtXXqX0.htmlsi=ZtVmeMx1Qr0w3MdT

@@yarpyarp85 he was already a legend before joining Morbid Angel. His band before that, Terrorizer, has some absolutely insane kick drum patterns on their debut album, World Downfall, 1986 or 87 I believe, and when you figure it was played on a single kick, it's pure jaw-dropping madness.
