This was my mom's favorite piece of jazz and she introduced me to it., She passed in 2012, and now whenever I hear it now I think of her and how it is made her smile. Her absolute favorite off this album was New York connection. I live in Atlanta Georgia, and whenever I am on Peachtree street or in midtown, those two songs always come to mind

In the 1970s, even commuting seemed funky-if you were Tom Scott.

Ruben, Granville, and Edward, I remember that show and this theme song, as well. Friday nights at Midnight on WOW 590 AM in Omaha starting in the fall of 1975. I was 10 at the time. And, yes, there were times in the spring and summer of 1977 when I would stay up until 3 a.m. and listen to the entire show. And my Mom wondered why I was always so tired on Saturday mornings. :) It was because I was opening my mind to a whole different world outside my bedroom window.

Carole King's song "Jazzman" (1975) referred to Tom. I have "New York Connection", and wore it out. Thomas Wright Scott is 70 now (born May 19, 1948), and still playing.

Richard Tee kills the synth solo. And yes, Gadd is spectacular. I believe that this is the album that put Gadd in the the consciousness of a heck of a lot of drummers and spun their heads around.

50 Ways to Leave your Lover, what Gadd did on that Paul Simon song. That cut Gadd put work in on got the attention of a hell of lot of drummers. The man is a bad motherfucker on the drums. Period.

Yes this put Gadd on another level but I fell in love with Tom Scott and bought all his albums after that. LA Express was always my favorite Scott band with John Guerin on drums.

666 - Steve Gadd on drums drives the rhythm, pocket and groove. With his "50 Ways to Loose Your Lover" (Paul Simon '75) pattern, Gadd singularly turned modern drumming upside down and inside out. Additionally, his studio sessions work is astounding. As such, he is easily considered one of the most influential--if not THE most influential--drummers in the past 40 yrs. And he still plays. Check out his discography (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Gadd). Cheers!
